@panzade,
Even if I were randy, why is that any easier for me to say than it is for anyone else?

Anyone ever get dizzy while standing in crowded areas? Happens to me sometimes. Almost feels like sensory overload. So many eyes. Bunches of universes bumping around

Anywho... only one pesky vacuum hose stands in the way of me pulling an intake manifold. then it's on to water pump country

@thack45,
do you have a blowtorch?

that would get it out of your way.

but be stay clear of the fuel lines...

but seriously.

is this a vehicle with a timing belt running in front of the pump?

thanks, i may take you up on that.

hope I'm savvy enough, I've got a valley pan, intake/valve cover gaskets; couple sensors, pcv plate, thermostat - and a whole mess of o-rings to put in as well

was watching a show on the history channel (probably) about horses and it got me thinking that should a worldwide, cataclysmic event happen; knowing how to ride a horse would be handy

@thack45,
horses are incredible animals.

very intelligent.

if you've never ridden, it would be a worthwhile experience just to have done it...

@Rockhead,
In my days as a camp counsellor, they made me, a city kid from East Boston,
horsemanship counsellor. They were desperate. I learned a lot of things
including where not to stand. That was a painful lesson.

@George,
I keep thinking I might want to get a rescue horse.

lots of them available with the economy.

but I'm not flush enough yet to feed a horse every day.

I can picture you at the end of it, G.

if you ever make it out here to flyover country, I'll borrow a horse and we can go jogging together. as far as you want to run...

It's a lame American joke. When someone stumbles while saying something real convoluted you answer "Easy for you to say"

@thack45,
It would be far more useful to know how to secure a pack to the horse's back so that it won't shift or fall off. If the human race went back to the horse as the primary means of transportation, childhood mortality would rise dramatically.

finally got the intake off the other day...
http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb190/tint45/my%20e34/IMG_20120926_120250.jpg

had to cut a vacuum hose, fuel line and a couple of wires to get it though Shocked. today i got the water pump off, pulled & replaced the valley pan, put a new t-stat on the new pump, put on new pcv plate and gasket and new throttle body gasket. was supposed to remove the harmonic balancer from the crankshaft hub because it covers one of the pump bolts but it wasn't moving, so not sure how I'm going to get that bolt back in and properly torqued.

how's everyone else's saturday?

@thack45,
you working on a mustang...?

bun, I live on the same farm, I just moved from the camper out in the woods to the real house, as it is currently unoccupied.

the gatos are in heaven, stinky rolls around in the living room like a giant kitten.

I hadn't realized how cramped we were until we moved to a real house...

@thack45,
you can put a deposit down and borrow a balancer removal tool at most auto parts joints. I use O'Reilly's.

they also make a cool little tool to get the lines off without cutting them.

about $6 to $10...

if it is an 8mm bolt, go as tight as you can get it by hand with an end wrench, and you will be close to your torque spec...

what about 10mm? Confused the little wrench is actually what i used to slowly work the bolt out.

anyway, it's a '95 540i. very acceptable low end torque. ...and HORSEpower! see what i did there? yeah
