@Joeblow,
I hate drinking buttermilk but it can make certain bakery products delicious.

@edgarblythe,
And, of course, it's used to make delicious cheeses, Gaperon for instance. Wink

So listen, you gotta tell me, what's your favourite birthday dinner?

I'm especially intetested in the cake!

I think a rack of ribs, beans, a small salad, with iced tea. And the aforementioned chocolate velvet cake with coconut in the icing.

I have to reiterate: I have never liked cheese and I go out of the way to avoid it. I've read that Asperger's people can reject an unfamiliar food as a child and never ever give it another chance. I don't know. I've tried different kinds - once each - as an adult but my taste buds always cry foul. I'm sure anybody reading this has a food they treat the same way.

@edgarblythe,
I missed this ^ somehow. That sounds good Smile

I asked for ribs this year as well, though I normally go for some kind of beef. Gotta shake things up sometimes. One year mrjoe asked for corned beef and cabbage. I could have throttled him! But it was his birthday. So, I didn't.

Tell me about the beans! Also, saucy ribs? Dry rub?

@Joeblow,
I like almost any beans, except the ones made overly sweet or syrupy. Mostly white beans, black beans, and pintos. Not too much salt. Kidneys are okay but not a favorite.

I like corned beef in small doses, but eat cabbage raw in a tossed salad almost every night. I can eat cabbage cooked but don't really enjoy it.

When I lived in Brooklyn I worked Schraft's in Manhattan. We sent out the food to the restaurants. I once dropped the biggest ever corned beef on the floor. My superior said to send it out anyway "or they will send it to the cafeteria for us to eat." I let her pressure me into sending it.

@edgarblythe,
I haven't thought about Schrafft's in years! Glad you weren't forced to eat that corned beef. Although I don't think I'd have turned it down.

I have cole slaws all winter, shifting over to lettuce salads from the garden in the summer and fall.

@hightor,
I make my own silver. Don't trust companies to keep it pure.

@Joeblow,
Rocky has the kind of coat that makes him suffer with the heat. He really should have been up north as a sled dog. That's why I started feeding him the dog ice cream. Now he considers it his right to a bit of it once a day.

@Joeblow,
The next ten things I love about Edgar come from his rules of life
Quote:

1. Eat no dogs
2. When cooking give your mate the nicest portion
3. Do for others
4. Don't expect others to do for you
5. Take charge of your own health
6. Try to answer antagonists with logic and humor. In a pinch, anger and sarcasm will do
7. Vote even if you have to hold your nose
8. Stand against perpetual wars
9. Take time for yourself where you can relax and ignore the world
10. Love friends and family in adversity as well as good times

@hightor,
I wrote an autobiography of sorts. Beyond the Dark Water covers some of the highlights but has a fictional framework. The parts that tell of my struggle are 99.99% true. It went out of print, so I put it on my blog.
