So, would you write that if you had to sign your real name?

I've been traveling and not had much time to poke my head in here, besides the thread seems to have been doing fine without me.

hmmm. you don't remember the stakes of our bet:
I think it was this:

If Zimmerman is set free, you buy dinner for both of us in celebration.
If Zimmerman is convicted, you buy dinner for both of us in commiseration with my broken heart which I will then write tearfully about.

Isn't that right ? Laughing

Joe(I have been following those events at all)Nation
No. That IS right.
Dinner is on me!
I 'll consider it an honor.
I 'm going to Florida next week
for the 2nd Amendment Foundation 's convention in Orlando,
but some time thereafter, we 'll choose a good place in Manhattan.

I don 't feel sick,
but I never recovered my strength since my surgery of 2005.
Just walking for a few minutes threatens to exhaust my strength. Scary.
For years, decades & centuries I 've been attending the conventions of groups
to which I belong, e.g. NRA, Mensa, The Society of Vertebrate Paleontology,
2nd Amendment Foundation, International Association for Near Death Studies,
The Federalist Society, the Libertarian Party, Gun Shows, Coin Shows,
symposia on Psychology, Astrophysics and Membrane Theory. I like the lectures;
also established friendships over that time thru out America.
We enjoy good restaurants & good hotels in fun cities,
e.g., Orlando, Las Vegas & New Orleans. Thanx for asking.

@snood,
You really are a humorless clod snood.

And such a manly man!

Even Ahnuld would seem prissy compared to virtual man on fire such as yourself.

@OmSigDAVID,
If I may ask, how do you find time to work?

Or are you a rich millionaire who lets the secretary do all the paperwork? Or perhaps taken an early retirement?

@Helios,
David is long retired, Helios. Don't know whether he's a millionaire or not, but certainly comfy enough in his retirement. There are a lot of us old geezers on this site who no longer do anything you'd call "work."

As Andy has accurately posted, I have retired, some years ago.
In another century, I retired from the practice of law,
when I was 41. Before then, it was ez to arrange
my trial docket. We had several trial attorneys
on staff to attend to our firm 's case load.
My partner (office manager) put out cases
for trial to outside counsel, if that proved to be
necessary to accomodate my absence (but usually,
trial judges r co-operative with trial counsel).

Years later, remembering the joy
of participation in political campaigns as a kid,
I supported a successfully elected Governor of NY,
by whom I was awarded a very comfortable job
which I held for 12 years. I arranged my schedule
so that I had Mondays off during that time and,
of course I had vacation time.

Conventions are usually convened on or near weekends.
Some run for about a week. I had a lot of flexibility
with my time to abide the events of those conventions.
I still do, but not so much strength as I had in youth.

A useful digression:

Hotel/Motel Scam (This one is so simple it is shocking)
This is kind of scary if only because of how simple it is.

You arrive at your hotel and check in at the front desk. When checking in, you give the front desk your credit card (for all the charges for your room). You get to your room and settle in.
Someone calls the front desk and asks for (example) Room 620 - which happens to be your room. The phone rings in your room. You answer and the person on the other end says the following, 'This is the front desk. When checking in, we came cross a problem with your charge card information. Please re-read me your credit card number and verify the last 3 digits numbers at the reverse side of your charge card.'
Not thinking anything, you might give this person your information, since the call seems to come from the front desk. But actually, it is a scam of someone calling from outside the hotel/front desk. They ask for a random room number. Then, ask you for credit card information and address information. Sounding so professional, that you do, thinking you are talking to the front desk.

If you ever encounter this problem, tell the caller that you will be down at the front desk to clear up any problems. Then, go to the front desk and ask if there was a problem. If there was none, inform the manager of the hotel that someone called to scam you of your credit card information, acting like a front desk employee.
This was sent by someone who has been duped........and is still cleaning up the mess.

@Joe Nation,
Smile My actual name is Stormy Lynn. The 11 on my username is for my month of birth, as well as the day, and I am the type of person who stands behind what I say, otherwise I wouldn't say it. I'm rather proud of myself for that. Smile
