As Andy has accurately posted, I have retired, some years ago.
In another century, I retired from the practice of law,
when I was 41. Before then, it was ez to arrange
my trial docket. We had several trial attorneys
on staff to attend to our firm 's case load.
My partner (office manager)
put out cases
for trial to outside counsel, if that proved to be
necessary to accomodate my absence (but usually,
trial judges r co-operative with trial counsel).
Years later, remembering the joy
of participation in political campaigns as a kid,
I supported a successfully elected Governor of NY,
by whom I was awarded a very comfortable job
which I held for 12 years. I arranged my schedule
so that I had Mondays off during that time and,
of course I had vacation time.
Conventions are usually convened on or near weekends.
Some run for about a week. I had a lot of flexibility
with my time to abide the events of those conventions.
I still do, but not so much strength as I had in youth.
