There is/are no minimum wage or qualifications for those applying for the performing artiste work permit.

Which verb should I use? I would go for 'is' to agree with the subject 'wage'.

Thanks.

@tanguatlay,
Respectfully as possible, Tanguatlay, the sentence doesn't make sense to my ear. What are you trying to say...and can't you find a better way to say it?

@tanguatlay,

That's a tricky one.

Most people would agree with you; to make the sentence perfect grammatically, it would need to be longer. In the interests of brevity, since the meaning is clear, I would plump for the singular verb.

Others may disagree.

@tanguatlay,
As demonstrated by Frank, the meaning really isn't that clear. You risk confusion for the sake of brevity by attempting to use one adjective, "minimum" to modify two nouns, "wage" and "qualifications."

I suggest you go for clarity over brevity.

I don't see any problem with the meaning.

There is/are no minimum wage or qualifications for those applying for the performing artiste work permit.

No minimum wage or other qualifications exist for those people who are applying for the performing artiste work permit.

Use 'is' Ms Tan.
