You are confused on that Bill. Unlike JTT I will explain why.

On these matters the dogma of the Church and the rules of a State might well be identical and with the same legitimation. Because the Church gets a bit fanciful in certain respects does not mean it is not pragmatic regarding sexual morality which is often more rigid in atheist governments.

What I mean is that because you don't believe that Jesus ascended into heaven is not a justification for a sexual free-for-all. The Church's "silliness" may not extend to all its teachings. It might well not extend to any of them if they were scrutinised with attention.

We do know that the Church has lasted longer than any state.

Of course it has. It has relied on fear and the easy pickins it finds in folks who can be duped by those fears. It's a place for those who can't rise to real power to get some of their own and still be free to boink little boys and enjoy the other perks of politicians.

Lot of nonsense in the Christian bible that is not so far follow by the state so why picked some elements or fears to enacted into law and no others?

It's the usual stuff. They are all dupes. By implication you are not. And yet, in your eagerness, you have been duped into thinking that some evil priests are capable of undermining Catholic theology.

I saw a film on PBS called Clinton. The perks of politicians didn't look very nice to me from that programme. He was not always on camera. How he managed to smile when he was on camera is a mystery to me. It looked like 8 years of agony and his hair went white and his heart needed a by-pass. You're confusing what you see on TV with the reality. When I think of how an ex-govenor of a state might live I cannot help thinking he was mad to climb on that cross.

I didn't think that at all, but I sure know that the top brass sure undermined Catholic theology. While these men of god dithered and made lame excuses up and down the ranks, probably to cover their own asses [ you really think that none of them have been boinking boys or each other], they illustrated that they are just glorified [no pun intended] bureaucrats, trying to protect their cash cow.

It is impossible to undermine Catholic theology no matter how discreditable those temporarily in charge of it might be. The Constitution cannot be undermined by the behaviour of people temporarily operating it.

Both can only be undermined intellectually. And solipsistic special pleading assertions are the opposite of that.
