Margo eats raw prawns? wow!
margo, What's a "cricket?" c.i.
Ah - cultural misunderstandings abound -and I will be the last person to clear them up...heehee
According to my big American dictionary, a prawn (ME Prayne or prane) is a small edible crustacean of the shrimp family, while a shrimp (ME schrimpe meaning puny person, from the base AS scrimman, to shrink or dry up) is a small slender, long-tailed crustacean of the family Cragonidae, related to the lobster, crayfish and prawn.
Now that is some circle of meaning!
The Oxford Colour dictionary says they're both edible and a prawn is a bigger shrimp... which is what I always thought.
What I don't understand is how someone can say they don't like BBQ, but still likes prawns cooked over an outdoor grill! I thought THAT was BBQ!
Shall we throw some German definitions into the gumbo? There are all those darn langouste things, too. They seem suspiciously like what Setanta says the Irish call prawn.
C.I. a 'cricket' is a small electrical device not unlike a radio - it has a simple on/off switch. One merely switches it to the 'on' position and the voices of such luminaries as Richie Benaud, Ian Botham, Tony Grieg, David Yallop, Allan Border.. [et al] will then bore the tits off you until you pass out in a coma or need to go out for more beer.
'Crickets' are made of the same material as the standard black-box recorder to protect them from sledgehammers wielded by people driven to distraction by its operation. Did I neglect to mention that a 'cricket' once activated will continue to operate for up to five consecutive days?? Order your sledgehammer now.
Thank you, Mr Still. I'll be ordering my sledgehammer soon!
c.i.
got the sledgehammer already, just need a cricket
Will a cricket hammer do?
c.i.
And "it's all happening" at the SCG where England are finally on top.
Yes, they made it to the 5th day. An event that has become too rare.
Remember Margo. Never ever write down the score until it is all over. Sheesh. Don't you have any superstitions down there in Oz???
