You'd have to read the article to get the meaning. It may refer to Venus, the goddess of love, sexuality, etc.

Notice the birds and the bees, as in "the talk about the birds and the bees", i.e the talk parents are supposed to give their kids about sex, how the bees pollinate the flowers and the man pollinates, er...., the woman. considering Kinsey was the godfather of modern sex research, considering Venus was the goddess of love, yes it's Venus, and it was obviously a cover story about Kinsey's research, probably from sometime in the 40s or 50s.

Thoughts.

As you will realise, "reflections" has two meanings here. Reference to a mirror of Venus means the context will be sexual, but the main meaning is "thoughts", usually thoughts and opinions had after some time has passed.
