My kids want me to take them to the beach today, should I bring them?

Should I take my 3 sons to the beach? Given the fact that where we are right now it is 42 degrees celsius right now, all my kids have extremely fair skin and they burn in seconds, AND the water at the beach completely dries their skin out worse than salt on a slug. They are 14 12 and 10. They are all off school today, so thats why

@sfombom,
Buy some sunscreen (waterproof), use it on them, tell them to reapply every half an hour (they're old enough and presumably mature enough to follow your instructions. I take it they've gotten sunburned before so they're well aware of the consequences) and go.

@sfombom,
What are you going to do if you don't go to the beach? If staying at home and watching TV is the alternative then go to the beach. Sunburn can be prevented and dry skin is no big deal so don't let that stop you.

@sfombom,
Take a beach umbrella. If you don't have one, take a couple of folding beach chairs and a blanket to make some shade for them to huddle under when not in the water. Have them wear t-shirts while in the water to help limit the sunburns.

Take a lot of drinking water to keep them hydrated.

If you go, go before noon to avoid the hottest time of day when the sun's rays do the most damage.

Go.
Have fun.
In twenty years, they will still be talking about all the times they had fun at the beach together.

Put them in a shady spot in the backyard and hose them down at regular
intervals.

But be sure to consult an internet forum for the proper context of 'regular intervals'.

@sfombom,
Yikes 42.5 C is 109F. By all means take them to the beach--take shade, waterproof sunscreen (highest spf you can find), and lots of ice water as a minimum. Use the beach showers before you come home and drop a sandflea down their swimsuits when they aren't looking.

@raprap,
If that's a sandflea, I don't want to see the dog.

If I'm living within 50 miles of its hunting ground of that beast, I don't want to be living on the same continent as that hypothetical sandflea.
