@CalamityJane,
There was a time I was genuinely happy to live here. That ship has sailed. At least I live in the Triangle, an oasis of civilization in a desert of primitives. Every time I drive East to head for the beach I feel like I've entered the wayback machine. The Western part of the state is no different.

Wikipedia's description of the "blue-veined throbbing" problem:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_balls

Mostly seems to arise from trying to substitute drugs or spray paint for real manhood, just what I've heard, I never really saw the problem...

btw, when I scanned the paint at the self checkout it froze and the message to wait for an attendant to arrive came up, along with a picture of an NC driver's license. Ridiculous.

Give that there is an age limit on buying spray paint just like cigarettes and alcohol of course a self service lane with no way of knowing your age is going to freeze up and call for a human.

There is nothing ridiculous about the matter unless you enjoy having teens spray painting your home and car.

To sum up what the hell are you complaining about?

the ridiculous of it. How far will we go? Will I soon have to show id at the grocery store to buy Pam or charcoal starter? How about registering with id at Home Depot or Ace Hardware for garden tools. They could make handy
murder weapons. How about baseball bats or golf clubs at Dick's Sporting Goods? I could bludgeon you to death with those. In addition I'm 63 ******* years old and obviously not a teen. IN ADDITION, he didn't just check my id he entered my info into the store computer. They don't even do that at the ******* liquor store.

@BillRM,
Complaining about being forced to put even more information about oneself on the internet for business to sell to anyone willing to pay for it.

@blueveinedthrobber,
If you do not like showing ID when buying such materials go to a human check out clerk that can judge your age without needing ID in the first place assuming you are not near the cut off age.

Sorry but annoying you for a minute or so seems off hand a far far better public policy then allowing a 14 years old to buy tobacco, alcohol and spray paint.

@BillRM,
Here it doesn't have anything to do with age. Your ID is recorded in a log book, no matter your age. If there is a tagging problem they can match the paint to the batch numbers where it was sold and track down the culprit.

Lord so you think we should do away with all age limits in buying materials such as had already been name so you do not need to show that you are over the age limit for owning that material?

Sorry it not going to happen thank god.

A: A human came. B: He didn't just check my ID HE ENTERED MY NCDL # AND INFO INTO A ******* COMPUTER DATABASE. I yelled because you obviously didn't hear me the first time. Additionally, are you really comparing spray paint to alcohol and tobacco? Really? Or are you just being contrary for the sake of it?

That is not the law in the state of Florida

Where do you live in the US or Canada as off hand I do not think that spray paint have tracking info embedded in the paint that is sold anywhere in the USA.

Hell we do not even have such info embedded in explosives.

Given that spray paint is used to mark and claim gang territories where battles are fought that result is a few thousand deaths every year in the US yes it can be just as bad.

To say n9thing of the thousands dollars of harm that can be done with one can of spray paint to property such as businesses and homes and cars

@blueveinedthrobber,
Interesting I was not able to find any NC law concerning the sale of spray paint at all!!!!

Only a possible city law over the matter.

Perhaps it is the actions of Home Depot outside of any legal duty.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Officials in one North Carolina city want to fight graffiti by making it illegal to for anyone under age 18 to buy spray paint or possess it near often defaced areas like bridges and public playgrounds.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports that a Winston-Salem City Council committee will discuss the new laws next month.

City Manager Lee Garrity says fighting graffiti is critical to keep neighborhood appearances and property values up and also helps police fight gangs.

Under the proposal, anyone under 18 who is caught with spray paint near public playgrounds, swimming pools, parks or bridges could face a $500 fine, and a judge could make the parents pay the penalty.

A store that sells spray paint to someone under 18 also could face a $500 fine.
