@tgordon92,
It's only starting. Most of my running Kenyans, Jamaicans & Ethiopians have only just arrived at Heathrow.

This is like a marathon race. The fun is to see who leads, but what matters is who finishes on first place.

@tgordon92,
I have the same scores, which is good. How I 0nly wish I was missing 90 points somewhere...

On a side note, the Brits have finally started making some noise--but they have a lot of catching up to do!

No changes at the top of the leaderboard. However, tomorrow is the first day of Athletics, whose 47 medals make up nearly 1/6 of the total medals up for grabs, so the race could start to change.

Tsartepan's lead is short-lived, as George moves back to the top of the standings.

Just a reminder that mixed double events count for both men's and women's medal counts for US and China, so make sure you're taking that into account when comparing your calculations to mine.

Tomorrow will see 25 gold medals awarded, the most of any day of the Olympics except for the penultimate one.

@tgordon92,
My scores are the same, except:

ehBeth 281 (you have 282)

and

wheel158_son#1 215 (you have 216)

Good call on the Mixed events -- I hadn't accounted for those, as I naively thought NBC would just add medals to both Men and Women (if the event was mixed). After seeing my scores were different, I noticed that NBC had a Mixed tab, and I've updated things on my scoresheet.

BTW, for the two different scores mentioned above, I have these countries listed:

ehBeth

China-Women 87
United States-Men 65
Canada 11
Japan 45
Netherlands 16
Czech Republic 6
Jamaica 0
Kenya 4
Kazakhstan 20
Slovakia 3
Ethiopia 5
Lithuania 5
Mexico 10
Mongolia 4
Switzerland 0
281

wheel158_son#1

Australia 36
Great Britain 66
Canada 11
Cuba 17
France 61
Brazil 12
Slovakia 3
Sweden 6
Thailand 3
Turkey 0
Armenia 0
Morocco 0
Mozambique 0
Namibia 0
Peru 0
215

Thanks for the corrections, wheel. You are correct. I had a Slovakia/Slovenia mix up.

The top three remain the same, but there's lots of movement below them. We've reached the halfway point on the calendar, if not quite the halfway point in medal distribution.

A Russia picker here too.

Grrrrr at self. I could see it the first day, when Brit women did well in football. Proprietary space and enthusiasm.

@tgordon92,
I have the same scores...

I agree, lots of movement. The leaders had a huge lead, which has started to slowly shrink, now that the Athletics events have started. Really, this is anyone's game to win, and it might come down to Group D picks.

The problem with Russia isn't that they aren't winning medals--they have 28, and Great Britain has 29--they just aren't winning Gold medals (they have 3, while Great Britain has 14).

If you're curious, the best team at this point would be:

A China-Women 113
A United States-Women 104

B France 66
B South Korea 59
B Japan 52

C Kazakhstan 25
C North Korea 21
C New Zealand 19
C Romania 19
C Poland 14

D South Africa 18
D Mexico 10
D Croatia 8
D Colombia 7
D Ethiopia 6

Total: 541

Big changes on top of the leader board, as perennial power fbaezer moves into the first spot, with yours truly in second, and shuho hanging on in third.

A couple of notes on the medal count:
1) Mixed Doubles Tennis medals were awarded today, and there was a bronze for both US Men and US Women in the event.
2) As of now, NBCOlympics.com is showing both Men's and Women's Cycling Team Pursuit on today's medal count, even though they were both contested before today. It doesn't affect the overall medal count, but could cause problems for those using the day-to-day medal counts as the basis for scoring.
