1. All I would like for Christmas are a doll and a dress.
2. What I would like for Christmas is a doll and a dress.
Which is the correct sentence? I think for the first sentence, 'are' is the correct verb, while 'is' is correct for the second sentence.

I would use IS in both sentences.

I carefully avoided the question. I almost think the British might say ARE, but you never know.

This one would say "is" in both cases.

use "is" in both sentences, then both will be fine
