chai, that is a great tactic, i think it really is. it can even become amusing. i will advise that to my friend, too. and practice it on my boss. though he'd not be a pug, he'd be a..a....reptile of a sort. or a mule. ideally combined. a reptile with a mule's head.

Oh, dear. I thought working for a reptile was your reason for leaving America.

i don't have to work that closely with this reptile. on good weeks, there is only one meeting. whereas in the us, the whole organization was me and the reptile, thus a different situation. but three of the five bosses that i have had in life were very similar to each other....the two remaining ones were women :-p

I missed this thread for its first year of life, I think.

My hearing is too good.
It's painful in loud restaurants and unbearable in dark bars.
Which is probably why I got so good at getting out of bars early with some other pained individual.
(Now, if I could have only not married so many of them.)

I tune the world out, so many times when someone speaks to me (from another room for example---think ex-wife) I will say "Huh?" or "What?" because I was purposely not listening.

She made me go get my hearing checked about ten years ago when I was 55.

The doctors said I could pass the USAF hearing test for jet pilots.
