It's a wonder that all the conservatives can talk about is "one" bad government subsidy called Solyndra. According to my investments, and the increase in millionaires during Obama's term, Solyndra is only one bad news for Obama out of many successes. Get over it!

I think you should look deeper into the Administration's "New Energy Economy" program administered by DOE. The record shows no successes and mutiple bankrupcys as well as a high level of beneficiaries who were also major contributors to the Obama campaigns.

Solyndra was merly the most publicized of them, but typical of the program nonetheless.

@georgeob1,
Still doesn't hold a patch to the 6-8 billion dollars the last admin just handed out to contractors in Iraq, but couldn't account for in any fashion at all. They didn't even try to account for it.

More money went missing than the Bush admin originally estimated the cost of the war at...

@reasoning logic,
If someone were attempting voter fraud with the electronic voting machines, I really doubt that they'd allow the tampering to display on the machine.

What you're seeing is a hardware failure, where the touch screen is not properly determining the location of the person's finger.

@DrewDad,
How likely would it be for two machines in two different counties to do the same thing? Do we have any reports of the opposite?

It's not untrue per se -- it happened -- but it's a simple calibration error. Not nefarious, and fixed by recalibrating the machine.

@Cycloptichorn,
Now that you reminded me of that debacle about the billions that went missing under the GW Bush administration and their Iraq contracts. To top it off, we spend many billions fighting an illegal war in Iraq that ended up getting many of our military killed and maimed, and the killing of tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis. georgeob wants to talk about $$$ that the Obama administration supposedly "wasted." That belongs on the laffer curve. Obama added over 5 million jobs immediately after the Great Recession that added tax revenues to local, state and federal governments. All while the GOP became the No Party that failed to pass legislation that would have helped small businesses to add more jobs.

Not only that, but under Obama, my funds have increased by almost 12% this year. It was over 15% not long ago. Show me any republican president who has performed as well for investors? Any.

Oh, did I mention that the Great Recession happened under GW Bush? Mr. Green

Most of the wasted contract money occurred under USAID contracts - a branch of the government that has been notoriously lax in the management of its contracts. It was found to have been been throwing money around for years, and has since lost most of its contracting authority. In other areas some of the contracts were wasteful by design. A company I know well built the road from Kandahar to Kabul in Afghanistan under specific directions from the government to use as many local Afghanistani subcontractors as possible. You can guess the rest. Actually the waste under the DOE new energy program was upwards of $4 billion. Solyndra alone was about $550 million.

Government bureaucrats, when they are found to have made mistakes are usually very quick to blame thei evil contractors whom they themselves selected.

@georgeob1,
Oh, that amount wasn't wasted money - it was money that couldn't be accounted for at all. They didn't know who it was given to and didn't know what happened to the pallets of cash.

The wasted amount is many multiples of that total.

@georgeob1,
That was still under GW Bush's presidency. No different than the GOP blaming Obama for what happened in Libya. Except in Libya's case, the intelligence community, the military, and the State Department did everything they thought were handled properly. With the amount of embassies in the Middle East, we can't have all of them secured with every possible contingencies. That's because the GOP congress cut the funding for that.

@reasoning logic,
Two devices, made by the same manufacturer, from the same parts?

Pretty likely, actually.

This is why datacenters don't buy all of their servers from one supplier.

OK that sounds cool but what if it was a software program?

That's because they knew their vote for Obama will give the credit to Romney-Ryan. They all knew about the "broken" voting computer.

Gah, I'm full of nervous energy.

Volunteered at local Obama office today (paperwork, nothing too profound). Got an email saying that people were walking away from enormous lines at the Ohio Union (campus), and asking for donations of water and snacks and folding chairs, bought a bag of snacks (pretzels etc.) and delivered them to the somewhat confused people in line. (Some seemed very grateful though.)

Now just zooming around the house doing various chores and checking 25 websites with CNN on in the background.

Like I said, if someone were to hack votes, it would be really stupid to let the user know.

If someone can hack a bank account in the background, I guarantee they can hack the simple databases that these election machines use and the user would never know.
