Over the years, i've sensed a frustration on the part of PDog about students who want to be vets, because they think it would be cool, but who don't think it fair that they should be expected to do any hard work to attain the goal. If i am reading him correctly, a lot of them think that they should get credit simply for having good intentions.

sounnds like your kids could use some tough love but its really not your place to administer it. Do many of these students have advisors?

Ive always used the network provided me. When I had disruptive students some years, I used their advisors as soundiong boards. Most were on fellowships or TA programs and had to shape up according to the fellowship or TA requirements. However, they werent unable to do the work, they were more a problem to my sense of order in a professional program.

Yes and no -- it's just technical school, and the parent organization tries to foster a "Yes you can!" attitude, and prizes attendance (and tuition) over standards and achievement. So they don't turn anybody away from enrolling in our program. The retention rate is pretty low during the first couple of terms as a result.

But the senior students are excellent, for the most part, as I mentioned before. My real beef is with admissions, I suppose.
