Does it mean "that belief has scared Big Medicine that is running"?

America's health care system isn't working. As we noted last month, in 2003 Americans spent $1.6 TRILLION on health care -14% of our Gross National Product - delivered by a system that kills 200,000 people a year through adverse drug reactions and medical errors!
But is there a better way?
It seems that increasingly, Americans believe there is and that belief has Big Medicine running scared.
that belief = a better way
Big Medicine = big drug manufacturers and the huge medical industry
@oristarA,
"running scared" is a euphemism for indicating nervousness.
Big Medicine (the large industry of health care businesses, providers and supporters) makes tons of money off of convincing Americans that they need all the medical intervention that money can buy. Of course, who wouldn't want to feel better/live longer? So, we consume as much as we can from as many providers as we can find. We also demand that health care be risk free. Oh... and that it be affordable. We're spoiled. We want everything that technology can provide and we want it to be cheap and safe. I'm curious what the article says about what an increasing number of Americans believe is a better way. Can you give a link to the article you're reading?
@InfraBlue,
Thanks, in most cases I prefer holistic medical options to the traditional ones.
