President Obama said in his speech: "I'm proud to stand here with you in the middle of this great city, in the center of Europe. (Applause.) And, to paraphrase one of my predecessors, I am also proud to be the man who brought Michelle Obama to Prague. " Can someone explain the "predecessor" for me?

@Betelnut,
Kennedy made a similar statement when he introduced himself as the man who accompanied Jacqueline Kennedy to Paris.

@Betelnut,
Quote:
As Mr Obama himself seemed to recognise when he referred to President John F. Kennedy's remark about
his wife Jackie, not since Camelot came to Europe in 1961 had an American commander-in-chief and his
wife received such adulation.

"To paraphrase one of my predecessors, I am also proud to be the man who brought Michelle Obama to Prague,"
Mr Obama said.
