Perry to Propose a National Flat Tax
By ADAM NAGOURNEY

LAS VEGAS –
Gov. Rick Perry of Texas said Wednesday that he would propose
a flat tax next week as part of a tax overhaul program, signaling
a new effort to separate himself from Mitt Romney and the rest
of the Republican field.
Mr. Perry signaled his intent in a speech to Republicans on Wednesday
morning after Tuesday night’s brawl of a Republican debate.
He has in the past suggested support for some form of a flat tax,
but has backed off from endorsing one. Mr. Perry recently recruited
as an adviser Steve Forbes, who ran for president in 1996 on a
pledge of implementing a single flat tax on income, without any deductions.
Mr. Perry did not offer details of how his plan would work.
He said he wanted to scrap “the three million words of the current
tax code and start with something simple: a flat tax.”
We need this to accompany an end
to all income taxes, nationwide, repealing the 16th Amendment.
The poor are simply NOT carrying their fair share of the load.

@OmSigDAVID,
The Fair Tax Plan is the way to go, supporting a national Flat Tax is a total waste of time.

Pay them more. They are wasting all of their funds on food, clothing and rent.

It shoud be united with a repeal of the 16th Amendment,
such that all levels of government are financed
ONLY
from sales taxes or from importation tarriffs.

@Joe Nation,
Whats the matter with you Joe! Dont you know the rich have been paying more than their share of taxes? People who make $35,000 dollars a year should pay 50% in taxes. If they cant pay for food and clothing they should get a second job.
@OmSigDAVID,
The FairTax Plan includes repealing the 16th amendment... Perry's flat tax is a waste of time.
@OmSigDAVID,
Other than the "opt-in" feature it looks like a good plan.

Sure, except for the fact it would bankrupt the nation while giving our richest members gigantic tax cuts.
Oh, wait - that
is a good plan to you guys.
Good thing the voting public is heavily against such plans, and we have absolutely nothing to worry about, as the chances they would ever be implemented are practically zero.

@Cycloptichorn,
Well, if you have nothing to worry about why the bother?
