@vonny,
If it helps Vonny, the only time I ever hear someone say 'vittles' is in old black & white cowboy movies. Usually someone like Gabby Hayes would say 'help yerself to sum vittles, boys.

@glitterbag,
Ah ... cowboy films. Why don't they make them any more - or do they? I do remember 'vittles' in that context. John Wayne, James Stewart and Charlton Heston spring to mind ...

@vonny,
The Coen Brothers did a brilliant remake of True Grit.

I didn't know that. Did they use the same title?

@vonny,
It's hard to say which is the better. They're both quite different, very good in their own way.

For what it's worth, I think the Coen Brothers movie was much better the John Wayne version.

@glitterbag,
I honestly can't say, I was a kid when I saw the original and enjoyed it as a kid. I enjoyed the Coen brothers' one just as much, but as an adult. And there was a tiny bit of the Big Lebowski about this Rooster Cogburn that I loved.

@ehBeth,
Is that new word meant to be the last word or is the last word going to be in Yiddish and placed by an elderly rabbi?

@Sturgis,
Is it ever the last word!

@vonny,
I will have to think about that.

Perhaps we should ask around to find out if 'it' is ever the last word...

@Sturgis,
It's been claimed that 'it' was indeed the last word - was it or wasn't it ... must ponder further.
