The first day of the 2015 Chinese New Year is on February 19, 2015 in China's time zone. This day is a new moon day, and is the first day of the first Chinese lunar month in the Chinese Lunar Calendar system. The exact new moon time is at 07:48 a.m. on 19-Feb-2015 in China's time zone.

The Year 2015 is the 4712th Chinese year. The Chinese believe that the first king of China was the Yellow King (he was not the first emperor of China). The Yellow King became king in 2697 B.C., therefore China will enter the 4712th year on February 19, 2015. Also, the Chinese Year uses the cycle of 60 Stem-Branch counting systems and the Green Wood Sheep is the 32nd Stem-Branch in the cycle. Since (60 *78) + 32 = 4712, therefore 2015 is the Wooden Sheep year, which is the 4712th Chinese Year.

2015 is the year of Sheep. Some people say 2015 is a Green Sheep or Wooden Sheep year. This is because the Stem-Branch Calendar is connected to the Five Element theory. Chinese calendars used the Stem-Branch system to count the days, months and years. There are 10 Stems and 12 Branches in this system. Stems are named by the Yin-Yang and Five Elements (Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth).

What to wear? Will this be a formal, or informal. celebration?

I like dressing up so I hope it's formal - well, formal celebration perhaps!

I'll bring my pet dragon

I think I'll go glitzy informal and wear one of my new sequined baseball caps, perhaps the pink one. I love these hats, I just bought them in 4 colors, but, unfortunately, they were out of black, otherwise I would have bought 5. No more bad hair days. Hooray!


Think I'll wear the pink hat with a simple black turtleneck sweater and black slacks, but I'll add this great silver and pink diamonique pendant on a long chain around my neck for some more sparkle.


Best part about going informal is, I can still wear comfortable shoes.

So, I'm all set to go...or will be, once I decide on the earrings.

Chinese New Year can be celebrated for 15 days, so now I just have to figure out what I want to wear for the other 14 days.

I wore enormously high heels every day when I worked in London. Ran up and down escalators too. You get used to them.

I could never wear them, even when I was 18.

I have weak ankles and trying to balance myself in high heels was painful and impossible, my ankles would immediately start to hurt, then they would turn, and down I would go. And the heels in those days weren't as insanely high and thin as they are now.

I had the same problem with ice skates.

I could wear reasonably high ones....but never stilettos.

I waitressed for years in the bastards.

Probably one of the reasons my back is so bad now....they really throw your whole body out of whack.
