@gungasnake,
Obama still way ahead of the GOP far right and is still likely to win a second term.

http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/tea-partys-approval-rating-drops-to-new-low-new-gallup-poll/politics/2011/08/10/25290

Americans’ approval of the Tea Party has dropped to an all-time low since the nascent unorganized group came into existence three years ago. Now, only 25% of Americans support the Tea Party, while 28% oppose it. Almost half of all Americans, 46%, have no opinion or neither support or oppose the so-called movement, according to a new Gallup poll taken after the contentious Congressional debate on raising the debt ceiling. Unsurprisingly, the South is the only region in which more people supported than opposed the Tea Party.

“More Americans consider themselves strong opponents of the Tea Party movement than strong supporters, by 20% to 14%, and the ratio is a similar 22% to 15% among registered voters,” Gallup reports.

“One of the more striking findings of the Aug. 4 – 7 USA Today/Gallup poll is that nearly half of self-described liberals, 48%, consider themselves strong opponents of the Tea Party, significantly greater than the 30% of conservatives calling themselves strong supporters. Similarly, by 39% to 31%, there are more strong Democratic opponents than strong Republican supporters. Among independents, 14% are strong supporters and an equal number are strong opponents.”

“Residents of the East are less likely than those in other regions to be strong Tea Party supporters, and the East has the highest percentage of strong opponents. The South, however, is the only region where strong supporters outnumber strong opponents (17% vs. 11%).”

“The national Tea Party movement appears to have lost some ground in popular support after the blistering debate over raising the nation’s debt ceiling in which Tea Party Republicans in the U.S. House and Senate fought any compromise on taxes and spending. Fourteen percent of Americans consider themselves strong supporters of the Tea Party movement, and, perhaps not coincidentally, 12% of the public consists of conservative Republicans who wanted members of Congress who shared their views on the budget to hold out for a deal they could agree with. That is according to a July 15 – 17 Gallup poll on the debt ceiling debate.

“Along with the decline in overall support for the Tea Party from 30% to 25% in recent months, Gallup finds more Americans holding intensely negative feelings toward the movement than intensely positive feelings. It thus appears that, to date, the Tea Party’s leadership and activities may have been more successful at galvanizing the movement’s opponents than expanding its base of passionate supporters.“

@gungasnake,

I have no idea what business Romney (father nor son)
has in the GOP. Neither of them were conservatives.
The GOP is America 's conservative party.

If he had been a conservative, there is no chance
that he coud have gotten elected Governor of Massachusetts

Conservatives have no reason to support him.
He does not support us.

The basic problem for the dems is that Bork Obunga really can't walk and talk or chew gum at the same time and can't talk at all without a teleprompter in front of him. Pubbies are looking for the most articulate candidate they have and are likely to end up with a ticket with either Romney or Chris Christie, and with Marco Rubio or Herman Cain as VP candidate.

Any idea how bad that would beat Obunga, particularly when polls show Obunga losing to Daffy and/or Donald Duck??

@gungasnake,

Saying that Romney or Chris Christie will run against nobama,
in practical effect, is saying that a Democrat will run against him.

If there is any difference between the legally enrolled Democrats and those 2, I don 't know what it IS.

@OmSigDAVID,
All we're talking about here is fiscal sanity and getting the US govt. back under adult supervision and we want the best shot we have at it. Any of the candidates in the debates would do that, but we we want the most electable ticket possible.

You mean adults that allow the banking system to grant homes mortgages to anyone who could crawl their way to the loan officer?

Allowed them to placed high risk mortgages together as packages and resell them as low risk finance instruments all around the world?

Allow such ripped off as Enron to wheel and deal under their watch or allow pronzi schemes to reach a level of billions when there was clear warnings far ahead of time.

Oh the adults just got our credit rating reduce by harming the idea that the full faith and credit of the US had meaning.

Some damn adults.........

@BillRM,
Barney Frank and Chris Dodd are primarily responsible for the present economic debacle along with other demoKKKrats who shouted and hooted George Bush down when he tried to say something about Fannie/Freddie in 03.

The other piece of the thing of course is the environmentalunatic/demoshit group which has thwarted every energy initiative in the US for the last 40 years and are presently in the process of shutting down oil drilling for the sake of a 4" lizard and major agricultural regions for the sake of "delta smelts()TM)".

Like I say, the basic idea is to get the government back under adult supervision.

@gungasnake,
You mean Bush was such a bad president that even those his party control congress for 6 out of his 8 years in office the evil Dems stop him from doing his job?

Oh and the evil dems was also at fault for starting a completely unneeded war that beside being very costly in terms of US lives costs a few trillions dollars out of the treasury and is still costing us in terms of lives and treasure.

Once more some damn adults indeed......
