On September 15th, the Massachusetts Department o' Work Force Development (and Bar and Grill) announced that unemployment here had dropped to 7.4%. And I should know, 'cause I was one of the people hired.

This is a long-term temping gig. It is, actually, the same company where Linkat works. I have temped for them twice before. Third time, maybe, will be a charm? Helfino.

I'll be doing database reporting, on a three-person team (I am person #3). The boss is Baseball Fan. The coworker does not yet have a name but I'm sure I will come up with something or other after a few days.

The 'bot boys are gone but not forgotten as I retain an equity role with them.

I start on Tuesday.

@jespah,
You are probably one of those contractors that bother the hell outta me.

They are all around us - don't know why they don't put them elsewhere - they hold meetings right next to me in open cubeville including conference calls on speaker.

I give them evil eye!

Thank you all - and I think (not to get too specific) - you and I'll be in different buildings, Linkat.

@ehBeth,
bleh!

Everyone knows who I am - I am the one with my desk overflowing with papers and with the grumpy don't bother me look on my face. People fear me!

@Izzie,
Perhaps it will be in iambic pentameter this time. Or rapped. I dunno. Smile

George - hoping for good things from the widget factory. Don't they need Latin translations?

Tea sticks - ehbeth - I have drink sticks but they are not the same (there are iced tea sticks but they are often very lemon-y). Where d'ya get those?

Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday. Black suit is clean.

@jespah,
Ah, the famous black suit.

I have one black suit with two pairs of pants, purchased from Travel Smith for my last italian trip (zipper pockets, a wool poly mix that is washable) and rare occasion to wear it now, though I still do once in a while - since it fits again after weight loss.

So, one vote for black suits if, er, suitable for the employment place.

I had a friend who got a primo job at a university, in the planning department. I was visiting and staying at her place on one of my trips through San Francisco, and when she showed me through her apartment, the door of one of her armoires was open. Egads. A whole row of what looked like gorgeous suits. I had a moment of suit envy. She later changed jobs, got rid of most of the suits. Schniff. But she got rid of them to one of those places that provide suits for people of low money who are seeking employment. This may not be relevant to CLady - re what people tend to wear where you are. San Francisco, for the duration of time I've ever been there, has one part of the culture that is fairly dressed up, even in today's more casual california. (I should put this in her job thread.)
