No, read Linkat's post:

I envision some good guys - like cops that are disheveled - remember the show Columbo - like some one like him.
That's what I was agreeing with. Jules and Vern doesn't fit with the theme of my main hero.
Yes, exactly. That what you are agreeing with as far as what linkat said, is what you've thought all along.
It sounds like you've just been waiting for one person to agree with you, to validate your feelings.
You like an idea. Let's say 50 people in a row say they don't like it, and you just keep asking. Finally 1 person agrees with you, and everyone elses opinion can just go to hell in a handbasket because you finally got the answer you want.
So, why do you keep asking for input goldman? You don't pay any attention to what anyone says, until it's someone that agrees with your original idea.
The object of asking others opinions is to get fresh points of view, maybe new ideas.
You obviously have like the names Gruffy and Scruffy from square one, just just go with that.
BTW, the Jules & Vern(e) thing? Which rockhead got, but went over your head?
Jules Verne was a famous writer of science fiction, who wrote, among other things "Journey to the Center of the Earth" "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" and "Around the World in 80 Days"
See, using names like that for the good/bad characters would appeal to kids smart enough to connect the dots. Like a duck named "Wade" or a bea named "Buzz"
Personally, when I was a kid, I would have thought Scruffy and Gruffy sounded dumb.
But you're already made up your mind, and someone agreed with you, so go ahead.
