Sex, sex, sex

ok, now I have your attention.

I post since I am presently unable to tolerate reading this - http://opinion.latimes.com/opinionla/2011/06/the-psychology-of-weinergate-and-what-it-says-about-us.html
though I skipped along and got the author's point. As it were.

I'm a little slow re understanding all this. Mostly I'm amused at the choices people make for their sex objects. Like, are you kidding? Re the plastic looks, or excited penises?

I've got to say, sex seems to have degenerated.

Do you agree, or not agree?

Apologies to those dealing with storms.

@ehBeth,
Since I have him in corner of the cloakroom, I don't know if I'd agree yet again with JTT.

That would be annoying, but I could get over it.

@ossobuco,
Sex acts and the accessibility of the Internet have done a job and made it quite depersonalized. Clinton-Monica-gate and that publicity pushed sex further into the faces of anyone who sits in front of a monitor or TV, whether or not they even knew what sex was all about.

Seems to me not only has sex slid into the basic bump-and-grind, romance has died a horrible death, too. Think of the making of the movie Casablanca ... and the times that such a romantic movie was made. High minded ideals..romantic love. Where did all that go? Is that gone forever?

@Ragman,
I don't believe that sex went from mystery moves by klutzes to only slicko porn in these few years of my own life, across the globe. I think I need an investigative grant.

@Ragman,
Also, I think you are romancing romance in days of yore.
Not that I have data.

@ossobuco,
carefull as you explore under the covers.

I think the explosion of the accessibility of the Internet and other personal gadgets like cell phones etc. have helped accelerate this erosion that was coming. However, the good side of social media is that imminent political protests and revolutions and truth about how brutal and oppressive despotic regimes is/are available to EVERY common person without the 'benefit' of broadcasters and networks and the editing spin. And the crackdowns of same are viewed in real time to the whole world in color and in HD.

@ossobuco,
Not sure I understand. How am I romancing romance?

In the late 30s and early 40s 'there was market for making such a movie. No, I don't believe the average person HAD such romance in their lives. But there was a hunger to watch such movies.

@Ragman,
You romance it since you think it died. I don't think so. (she stands bravely)

For instance plastic like how some women now want the big fake looking tits, so when you see them bouncing down the street with their two huge half spheres on their chest you are not looking at a boob job gone very wrong but rather the customer getting what they want?? That is new, along with women getting lots of tattoos, this willingness to alter the presentation of the body in an unnatural way is new. As for all the rest of the twisted erotic experience going on I have not made up my mind if this is new, and if so if it is degenerative.

I suppose you could take the view that the basketball on the chest is the modern equivalent of the bullet bra, but everyone knew that was clothing not body.

@hawkeye10,
I would say it's the modern equivalent of lip plates, or foot wrapping etc.
Altering the human body to suit current sexual trends is nothing new, Americans just happen to like breasts.

Sexual appetites haven't really changed much, the American perception has.
This country began with a rather prudish attitude towards sex and the accoutrements thereof.
The sexual revolution, womens' lib, gay awareness, changed all that.
In America, at least, religious groups stiffled sexual expression for so long, we think shame and disgust are natural.

@wayne,
Perhaps in Kansas.

Kidding, kidding, I'm sure disgust filters into tv news everywhere.
Your sexual history of the US could use some updates.
Please - we are not all one place even within one city. Try not to obfuscate with generalizations.
