The Age Of Arthritis
If you said "NO" read the article
YOu silly girl! There a sub-article for you there. Point was they are indicating that the Ol'"A" bug bites way earlier than we think.
Great information Husker, I have Osteoporosis and just started taking medicine for it two weeks ago and it is killing me, I mean I feel really bad for three days after I take it. I have a call in to the doc about it. It is supposed to be taken once a week and assist my body in absorbing calcium so far all it has done is make me ill. The exercise decribed in the article sound much better.
I've said 'no' and read the article.
(BTW, my wife has osteoporosis as well, Joanne.)
Is she taking any medicine Walter? And if she is has she had a bad reaction to it?
No, not really medication, just doing the "normal stuff": thermal baths, gymnastics, massages etc.
However, since is becoming worse, she will go to some specialist - don't know, what will be done there.
I must add that she has got fibromyalgia on the first place. But as far as I've learnt, all this is somehow 'connected'.
Yes, it is. I have good friend in D.C. with firbromyalgia, it is a related illness but much diffrent in many was. Quite pain ful as well. Deoborah has really suffered with it. My best to you wife and I hope she finds good treatment.
Doc said I had degenerative Arthritis in my knees(bad) - had to give up all sports and stop coaching - his rule not mine. Also have medium Arthritis in my right elbow, back, and neck(sports, carwrecks, and life). Left hand has began to ache. Last 2 days it's been pretty painful. If it had radiated higher in my arm. I'd maybe thought I was having a heart attack or something crazy like that.
JD - my mom was on some osteo-meds - her Doctor took her off them. She had a really bad bit of acid reflux, in the middle of the night she woke up choking on her own stomach juices. She was ok, but the Dr said she'd be better off without the meds for some period of time. They'll do the yearly bone density test to see if there's a decline or if she stay stable.
To late to vote on this matter, but yes I have arthritis & had it for something like 40 yrs. Basically through joint injuries through work or motorcycle competition.
Interesting to pick up what is going on here though.
Thanks littlek, I have already decided to stop the meds. I have never had stomach problems before and that waking at night with rumbly tummy is not fun. Last week I attributed the problem to not smoking but this week was more aware and realized it was the medicine.
fosomax! Or something like that, is the name of the meds Ma was on.
Yup that was it. On the web site it had complete discription of my symptoms. I rally isn't worth it I would reather work out and watch my diet.
weight-bearing excersize! My ma's all worried about not being on fosomax, but she doesn't really do daily weight-bearing excersize. I think they were working on some meds that could be taken monthly or yearly.
Oh my god, what would a drug that powerful do to us. Does you mom have lots of lower back pain yet?
I dunno. From the meds or the osteoperosis?
The OS, it can cause a lot of pain eventually if it gets bad enough. The exercises are real killers, not really but difficult. But as the Article Husker cited states now that the boomers are having these problems the medical community will get on the stick and figure something out for us, we will demand it.
