@coldjoint,
Explain this with some facts. Being black is killing more black kids each year than were killed any year in the Iraq or Afghan war. Don't get me wrong: cops shoot a lot of white kids, mentally ill, homeless, old people, too.

How do these numbers show up without some sort racist component.

Its just too many. Less than 12% of the population - 80+% of death by cops

Young black men are 21 times more likely than whites to be killed by police
Source: ProPublica/Raw Story

Young black males in recent years were at a far greater risk of being shot dead by police than their white counterparts – 21 times greater i, according to a ProPublica analysis of federally collected data on fatal police shootings.

The 1,217 deadly police shootings from 2010 to 2012 captured in the federal data show that blacks, age 15 to 19, were killed at a rate of 31.17 per million, while just 1.47 per million white males in that age range died at the hands of police.

One way of appreciating that stark disparity, ProPublica’s analysis shows, is to calculate how many more whites over those three years would have had to have been killed for them to have been at equal risk. The number is jarring – 185, more than one per week.

ProPublica’s risk analysis on young males killed by police certainly seems to support what has been an article of faith in the African American community for decades: Blacks are being killed at disturbing rates when set against the rest of the American population.

@bobsal u1553115,
The statistics you provided isn't really needed, because anyone who has kept up with the history of how many blacks have been killed by cops should be common knowledge based on media reports. Blacks in cars are stopped by police often for no apparent reason, and many result in violence against the black occupants of the car. They stop blacks for no apparent reason, then shoot them dead by saying they feared for their life.

Even blind people can 'see' that there is extreme racism practiced by the cops.

Many Governor’s Races Remain Close, and Democrats Make Gains

Many Governor’s Races Remain Close, and Democrats Make Gains

OCT. 10, 2014

A large number of governor’s contests remain close and competitive, according to the newest round of data from The New York Times/CBS News/YouGov online panel of more than 100,000 respondents.

There are 11 governor's races within five percentage points, and 16 races within 10 percentage points. The list of competitive states includes some unlikely candidates, like Kansas (a red state with a Republican incumbent) and Illinois (a blue state with a Democratic incumbent).

It appears the Democrats have made slight gains over the last month. They now lead in three states held by Republicans: Pennsylvania, Michigan and Maine. An independent candidate, Bill Walker, leads the Republican Sean Parnell in Alaska.

Democrats are competitive in several other Republican-held states. The race is tied in Wisconsin (the Democrat Mary Burke leads Scott Walker by 49 to 48 percent as a result of rounding)...................

Geez, to think we could potentially have had this trash family as First Family. Way to pick 'em, GOP. Wonder if Sarah still has those thoughts of running again. Please, gods, spare us.

ANCHORAGE — A birthday party donnybrook that has come to be known locally and beyond as the “Palin family brawl” has been ruled a no contest.

The municipal prosecutor’s office announced without comment on Thursday that it would not press charges in a fist-flinging altercation involving former Gov. Sarah Palin and her family at a party here on Sept. 6. The announcement was made in conjunction with the Anchorage Police Department releasing witness statements from the episode.

All of the accounts are in agreement that Mrs. Palin, her husband, Todd, and three of their older children — Track, 25, Bristol, 23, and Willow, 20 — showed up in a stretch Hummer limousine for a 40th birthday party for twin brothers, Matt and Marc McKenna, held at the home of Korey Klingenmeyer, the office manager for a company the McKennas own. Most of the party took place outside, with dancing and a live band.

But things got out of hand and that is where the witness statements diverge.
...
Five police officers compiled a 26-page report after interviewing more than 15 witnesses — including the Palin children in attendance — and most of the accounts (except for those given by the Palins) say that Bristol Palin had repeatedly punched Mr. Klingenmeyer in the face.

The Palins lay the blame for the fighting on others. Some of the witnesses, including the host, say that the Palins, particularly Bristol, were the instigators of several fights that broke out, all of which involved members of the Palin family.

Officer Benjamin Nelson said in his report that when he arrived at the home he found Sarah and Todd Palin arguing with other partygoers. He said that he also witnessed Todd, Track and Willow confronting Mr. Klingenmeyer in his driveway, and that officers had to separate the parties.

Track Palin is described by an officer as heavily intoxicated and belligerent, and was shirtless and had “blood around his mouth and on his hands.”

Track Palin said in his statement that some men were “talking rudely” to Bristol and Willow, and that one of his friends was punched. According to Todd Palin’s account, that is when “everything escalated and it was a situation they couldn’t walk away from.”

It ended up in a mass fight on the front lawn after a group of men “piled on” Todd Palin, one witness said.

After that fight broke up, another fight began that involved Bristol, whom the police report describes as “heavily intoxicated and upset.” According to Mr. Klingenmeyer, and numerous other accounts, Bristol and Willow headed toward a woman with the intent of beating her up. (Bristol said in her statement that the woman had hit Willow.)

Mr. Klingenmeyer told the police that when he asked Bristol to leave, she cursed at him and threatened to beat him up, too.

“He says then that she hits him in the face. He says he then tells her to hit him again if it makes her feel better and she does. He says he lets her hit him 5-6 times in the face and that she was hitting pretty hard. After about the sixth punch he grabbed her fist as she punched again and he pushed back and she falls down. He says she gets up and tries to punch him again and he grabs her fist again and pushes her away and she falls down again,” an officer wrote.

That again resulted in a large brawl, which witnesses said Track was at the center of.

Bristol Palin said she did not recall hitting Mr. Klingenmeyer, but reported that she was dragged by her feet and called names. Matthew McKenna told the police that during the fight he picked Bristol up, carried her into the street and put her down.

Yet another fight happened after the Palins were told to leave.

The police showed up shortly thereafter.

I don't think Obama's kids go around punching their neighbors in their noses. They don't spend their time trying to be wanna-be celebrities, either. Palin and her brats (and I use that term accurately) have been courting the spotlight assiduously for six years now. It's a little late for you to suggest that somehow they should be exempt for what that spotlight they've been yearning for shows about them.

@hawkeye10,
You're joking right? The crap people said about Chelsea Clinton was truly shameful. And the stuff they say about the Obama children equally so. The Palin kids bring it on themselves. If it gets on a police blotter its news. The only time W's kids got press was after one of them got caught drinking at Chuey's with a fake ID.

Secret Money Fueling a Flood of Political Ads
Source: NY Times

ore than half of the general election advertising aired by outside groups in the battle for control of Congress has come from organizations that disclose little or nothing about their donors, a flood of secret money that is now at the center of a debate over the line between free speech and corruption.

The advertising, which has overwhelmingly benefited Republican candidates, is largely paid for by nonprofit groups and trade associations, some of which are established with the purpose of shielding wealthy individuals and corporations that contribute. More money is being spent on advertising by the secret donors than by “super PACs,” the explicitly political committees whose fortunes have dominated attention with the rise of big money in politics.

Fifty-five percent of broadcast advertising in the midterm elections has been paid for by groups that do not fully disclose their donors, according to an analysis by The New York Times of advertising data from the Campaign Media Analysis Group, compared with 45 percent from super PACs, which are required to file regular financial disclosures with the Federal Election Commission.

* * *
The dominance of secretly funded advertising defies one of the underlying assumptions of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision, which allowed outside groups to raise and spend more money, so long as they did not coordinate with candidates and parties. In the majority opinion, Justice Anthony M. Kennedy envisioned campaigns in which unlimited independent spending by unions and corporations would be paired with robust real-time disclosure.

Obama Jokes -- Michelle Obama Joke

The President and Mrs. Mitchelle Obama are in the front row at a Yankees game.

The row behind them is taken up with Secret Service agents, one of whom leans over and whispers something into the President's ear.

As soon as he finishes, Mr. Obama grabs Mitchelle by the scruff of the neck and heaves her over the railing.

Mitchelle falls 10 feet to the top of the dugout, kicking and screaming obscenities.

The Secret Service agent leans over again and whispers,

"Mr. President, I said, they want you to throw out the first PITCH!"

There's nast little jokes about the kids, too and there's a bunch of sites out there. Do you think if an Obama kid gets pregnant out of wedlock she'll become a functionary of a abstinence group and not get hooted at?

At least the Palin trailer trash antics are documented and newsworthy.
