Happy Sunday Morning, CI. I understand well what you're saying. In 1935 when President Roosevelt introduced the Social Security Act, was a different period. The average person did not live much beyond 65 when the SS was supposed to begin paying out. Today, with scientific medical improvement, getting earlier checkups, giving up smoking, eating properly, human longevity has been extended. Therefore, the system has to be *adjusted* to fit today's future retirements. For instance, instead of retiring at 66 one might have to retire at 68 before receiving SS, etc.
