@MontereyJack,
Support position? You really want to bet on that? Since you know NOTHING about the military how can you say my position was support? Since you haven't served on I will explain something to you.
15U which was my job was not support. Who do you think runs the guns out the side of the helicopter? Mechanics! We are the door gunners. Where do you think the air crews come from? They were mechanics who moved up the ladder. We are the DART team, flying into areas where a helicopter has had to do an emergency landing to effect repairs, possibly under enemy fire. At least 1 of our dart teams had this happen. Try fixing a helicopter when there are bullets flying past your head. I've been involved in over 70 mortar and RPG attacks. So don't sit there and think you can degrade my service because I wasn't infantry. I degrade your attempt to equate what you did as a civil service to those who have worn a uniform. They do not compare and to think they do is an insult to those who have served.
Reagan enlisted in the military in 1937. Bush was commissioned in the Texas National Guard in 1968 and it wasn't until 1972 that he did the campaign stuff. You do realize that Bush's full military record was released in 2005? Instead of not knowing and want to say we don't know, you should read it. Might answer some of your questions.
Reagan military:
Quote:After completing fourteen home-study Army Extension Courses, Reagan enlisted in the Army Enlisted Reserve on April 29, 1937, as a private assigned to Troop B, 322nd Cavalry at Des Moines, Iowa.[33] He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Officers Reserve Corps of the cavalry on May 25, 1937.[34]
Reagan was ordered to active duty for the first time on April 18, 1942. Due to his nearsightedness, he was classified for limited service only, which excluded him from serving overseas.[35] His first assignment was at the San Francisco Port of Embarkation at Fort Mason, California, as a liaison officer of the Port and Transportation Office.[36] Upon the approval of the Army Air Force (AAF), he applied for a transfer from the cavalry to the AAF on May 15, 1942, and was assigned to AAF Public Relations and subsequently to the First Motion Picture Unit (officially, the "18th Army Air Force Base Unit") in Culver City, California.[36] On January 14, 1943, he was promoted to first lieutenant and was sent to the Provisional Task Force Show Unit of This Is The Army at Burbank, California.[36] He returned to the First Motion Picture Unit after completing this duty and was promoted to captain on July 22, 1943.[33]
In January 1944, Reagan was ordered to temporary duty in New York City to participate in the opening of the Sixth War Loan Drive. He was reassigned to the First Motion Picture Unit on November 14, 1944, where he remained until the end of World War II.[33] He was recommended for promotion to major on February 2, 1945, but this recommendation was disapproved on July 17 of that year.[37] While with the First Motion Picture Unit in 1945, he was indirectly involved in discovering actress Marilyn Monroe.[38] He returned to Fort MacArthur, California, where he was separated from active duty on December 9, 1945.[37] By the end of the war, his units had produced some 400 training films for the AAF.[33]
Bush military:
Quote:In May 1968, Bush was commissioned into the Texas Air National Guard.[39] After two years of active-duty service while training,[40] he was assigned to Houston, flying Convair F-102s with the 147th Reconnaissance Wing out of Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base.[39][41] Critics, including former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe, have alleged that Bush was favorably treated due to his father's political standing as a member of the House of Representatives, citing his selection as a pilot despite his low pilot aptitude test scores and his irregular attendance.[42] In June 2005, the United States Department of Defense released all the records of Bush's Texas Air National Guard service, which remain in its official archives.[43]
In late 1972 and early 1973, he drilled with the 187th Fighter Wing of the Alabama Air National Guard, having moved to Montgomery, Alabama to work on the unsuccessful U.S. Senate campaign of Republican Winton M. Blount.[44][45] In 1972, Bush was suspended from flying for failure to take a scheduled physical exam.[46] He was honorably discharged from the Air Force Reserve on November 21, 1974.[47]
Reagan and Bush were not the tips of the spears, and neither have they claimed to be. Both were fully in the military and served and were honorably discharged. To claim they were not in the military is just you being a hater. Once again they wore a uniform, the same can not be said for Obama or even yourself. Until you put on the uniform you can't really complain about others and their service. I mock Bergdahl because he was pussy who left his unit to find the enemy and live with them. That is why Bergdahl gets mocked.
