re coldjoint:

Have you looked at the statistics that compare the private US health system with the single-payer health care systems that EVERY OTHER developed country in the world has? Our system costs TWICE AS MUCH PER PERSONon average as any other system does, delivers worse health care metrics, leaves uncovered about 20% of Americans (while foreign systems cover everyone AT FAR LOWER COSTS), and is the leading cause of personal bankruptcies (EVEN AMONG PEOPEL WHO HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE), which doesn't happen in other developed countries. Obamacare, which is modeled on Romneycare, which works well in Massachusetts, is a first step toward creating a more rational system THAT COVERS EVERYONE, COSTS LESS, AND PRODUCES BETTER HEALTH OUTCOMES. those systems have worked everywhere else really civilized, and they've worked for decades. You can continue to try to defend a system that works badly and costs far too much, or you can get a life and actually look at the facts, which show you're an idiot. It's your choice.

That is because our healthcare is the best. And it is the best because of the free market. The government has no business in healthcare.

And do not call me an idiot I am not taking the American public for suckers that is this administration and you have swallowed the hook. Where are my pliers?

The numbers show you lie. Our healthcare system is not the best. Among developed countries, our system gets the worst results, and costs the most. Just one example: Average life expectancy in the US is down in the 40s among the 100-plus countries in the world. We pay twice as much as other countries, and we get the least for it. And one of the prime reasons is administrative costs, for doctors and companies here, which run about FOUR TIMES as high in other countries. Single-payer countries run about a quarter of our costs. They simply run more efficiently. And cheaply. Look at Medicare, which is a single-payer program in the US. And runs far cheaper. You're WRONG, coldjoint. And you're an idiot to swallow the propaganda you've obviously swallowed. Fifty-plus years of actual real-world experience in other first-world countries says you have no idea of what you're talking about.

The Shame of American Health CareBy THE EDITORIAL BOARD
Published: November 17, 2013 918 Comments

Even as Americans struggle with the changes required by health care reform, an international survey released last week by the Commonwealth Fund, a research organization, shows why change is so necessary.

The report found that by virtually all measures of cost, access to care and ease of dealing with insurance problems, Americans fared poorly compared with people in other advanced countries. The survey covered 20,000 adults in the United States and 10 other industrial nations — Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and Britain, all of which put in place universal or near-universal health coverage decades ago. The United States spends far more than any of these countries on a per capita basis and as a percent of the national economy.

For that, it gets meager results. Some 37 percent of American adults went without recommended care, did not see a doctor when sick or failed to fill prescriptions in the past year because of costs, compared with 4 percent in Britain and 6 percent in Sweden. Nearly a quarter of American adults could not pay medical bills or had serious problems paying them compared with less than 13 percent in France and 7 percent or less in five other countries. Even Americans who were insured for the entire year were more likely than adults abroad to forgo care because of costs, an indication of how skimpy some insurance policies are.

When Americans got sick, they had to wait longer than people in most of the other countries to get help. Fewer than half were able to get same-day or next-day appointments with a doctor or nurse; one in four had to wait six days or longer. (Only Canada fared worse on both counts.) But Americans got quicker access to specialists than adults in all but two other countries.

The complexity of the American insurance system is also an issue. Some 32 percent of consumers spent a lot of time on insurance paperwork or in disputes with their insurer over denials of payment for services they thought were covered.

The Affordable Care Act was created to address these problems by covering tens of millions of uninsured people and providing subsidies to help many of them pay for policies; by setting limits on the out-of-pocket costs that patients must bear; and by requiring that all policies cover specified benefits.

Americans are understandably frustrated with the Obama administration’s failure to produce a functioning website. President Obama’s erroneous statements that all people who like their current insurance policies can keep them — not true for many people buying insurance in the individual market — has added to anger and misunderstanding. The reform law, however imperfect, is needed to bring the dysfunctional American health care system up to levels already achieved in other advanced nations.

50 + years of anti-American propaganda is what you have bought into. PC originated in Western Europe and is used and intended to destroy the Western value system. We have seen the results in the breakdown of the family, indoctrination at universities, and the war on Christianity.

It is just a matter of painting people who would like to keep what they make, and who expect others to get of their asses and do the same, as racist and bigots. And it has to do with work ethic, nothing else.

People are not owed a living or something for nothing, but now it is what they expect. And those in charge know it. And have no problem redistributing others money for votes.

In all democratic countries, the government provides it citizens with free elementary education, infrastructure of the country, police and fire protections, transportation safety, *food safety, drug safety, water safety, defense, court systems, prison and jail systems, issuance of licenses, and other services.

Without such support from the government, nobody would be able to survive.

Governments require revenue to pay for all those services. It's NOT a redistribution of income. It's the benefit from living in a democracy where all its citizens can get an education, and live in relative safety and peace.

Without education, we would still be a third world country.

You've been brain-washed, and can't see how you were able to attend school to get an education for "free," and your family's ability to live in relative safety.

The rich and poor all benefit from living in a democracy. Everybody benefits from education and good health.

@coldjoint,
You know both a train wreck and people's health insurance are not one bit laughing matters. Grown-ups learn to deal with trauma in a proper way.

High school shootings, Katrina and the industrial catastrophes, I really don't seriously see what is funny about people's suffering and misfortune.

Does being a capitalist mean you have to become hardened and selfish and laugh at people's hardships?

Millions of people not having healthcare is no laughing matter.
While millions of dollars are being spent by corporations to see that the people don't get healthcare. Do you think corporations would be spending millions of dollars if they thought it was good for their bottom line?

GMO seed companions are spending millions of dollars to keep seeds that are profitable for them but not good for consumption.

Energy companies are spending millions to mass pollute and put the public at risk.

Th republicans are against healthcare
Against labeling GMOs
Against industrial regulations
Conservative judges have allowed corporate money to corrupt our political system.

What kind of person thinks train wrecks are funny?

No we hope that people stay safe from these types of disasters and we are humbled that we have been spared the fate of others less fortunate.

The saddest thing is the hateful set of abstract dogma of the GOP/Teaparty, thus their disconnect from humanity.

It seems Jesus wanted us to connect with humanity first.

There is the belief that humans can set aside their deities so that they can carry the richness of their spiritual heritage while also dwelling together in peace.

There is the idea that all ways lead to a higher power.

They all lead to the place where people come to the empathetic part of themselves and become useful to the world around them.

Instead of just consuming one begins to give back.

But it is audacity to judge and say, you are consuming and not giving back anything. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and we all give back in our own special way.
