Ah, I knew she would have started! Smile

My mother used to have a name for every single chook, when we lived on a farm.
It was rather a trauma when one had to face the axe & become Sunday lunch!
Say nothing of naming every single cow. (We lived on a dairy farm.)

I would have made a really lousy farmer.
Once I'd gotten to know the critter & had named it, I would find it extremely hard to treat it like a farm animal.
Just as well I didn't try.

I did a thread on my last owned chickens, Henrietta and Lulu. Turned out, chickens are not so stupid, but when bonded with their humans they become overly trusting of us.

@farmerman,
They would have to develop a system other than speech to communicate it.

Could you post a link to that thread, edgar?
I somehow missed it before & I'd be very interested to read about Henrietta and Lulu! Smile

@edgarblythe,
Thanks, edgar.
Just read the whole thread.
Delightful.
There's definitely something to be said for chickens! Smile
I loved your opening post.
Until you moved away & Lulu & Henrietta met their sad end ....
