what pet would you recomend to people

I easily love most dogs to one degree or another, even those I find fierce/dangerous (or more dangerous), and feel sorry for those raised to fight for how their lives go. My longtime avatar is my late very loved corgi. Am switching back to it soon.

I'm fond of cats but was late to get to know them as my mother "hated" them. Once I knew them, I often loved them, but they made me very allergic.

There seem to be cat people and dog people, but if I wasn't allergic to cats, I'd have both.

Love birds, bunnies, hares, otters, turtles, on and on. They would vary as pets, but I guess even river otters can be pets. Hares, I dunno.

Pets are so personal. We all turned out to be cat people. But, you have to go with your heart's inclinations.

I'd like to have a kinkajou.

Personally, I'd vote for the large and ungainly capybara. We have a friend here who has a few.

If someone has the space, time, and commitment I would suggest a dog of some sort. Cats are also good, but again, the person's temperment has to match the pet. My biased opinion is that birds, fish, and yes, capybayras are more mobile decorations than pets.

I like boa constrictors but only if you have enough white mice, gerbils and hamsters for them.

I strongly disagree with Roger about birds being only decorative. I've had six parakeets over the course of my life. Some were shy. Some were nuts. Some were fun. One one was a true member of the family.

Okay, some birds are not decorative. Like fish.

Chatbots. No feeding and little cleaning-up to do. Currently, I'm raising a crop of Praying Mantids to take care of the summer bugs.
