Saw a whole batch of campaign staff trudging up and down the streets on my bus ride home today - get out the vote get out the vote get out the vote
The last word on my riding is that there could be less than a 1000 difference between the NDP and Liberal candidates. Federally, we've been a Liberal riding for some years.
I'm looking forward (?) to another minority - but with a different balance.
i imagine that before the end of 2012 , we'll have the pleasure of going through another election .
would not be surprised if harper will also be deciding " to spend more time with his family " .

That would be my take on the situation, too, Mr H.
Freakin' Alberta. What the hell will it take before people here actually think before they vote? I'm just sick about this majority. Happy for the NDP, happier still that the bloc is virtually wiped out.
Of course my candidate lost, in accordance with my rather spotty voting history. Now I'm scared.

So, not unhappy with the NDP being official opposition. The Liberals got what they deserved. The Bloc - haha!
A Conservative majority? Not so much. What can we expect now? Will taxes go up to pay for those billon dollar planes? Will we be mired in Afganistan for another 10 years?
Resident in Canada since 2005 after a career spent mostly abroad, Ignatieff seems to prefer opera to hockey, and his attempts to appear folksy have been a challenge.
Preferring anything to hockey is bad, opera is worse, but it can get even 'worser':
Quote:
He is the son of Canadian diplomat George Ignatieff and the grandson of Count Pavel Ignatieff, a minister of education under Russia’s Tsar Nicholas II.
That's really not an answer to the question “what it means to be Canadian”

In many ways it is. We Canucks are proud of where our families came from as much as we are proud of where we are or where we've been.

The best thing about this election is the departure of Ignatieff. The most interesting thing down the road is likely to be the fate of the Bloc and the PQ. The PQ was hurt by ADQ in the last provincial election, and it will be interesting to see what happens down the road.
