@djjd62,
It is worthy to reconsider the phenomenon of how these rogue politicians ever get elected in the first place.

Your title is a bit off, Rex. The proposed bill is to draft a process that will allow for recalls, something currently not allowed under the Maine constitution. IL went through a similar process last year. The constitutional referendum passed and we now have a mechanism to recall the governor. Fortunately, the legislator impeached blago before that became necessary, but it's there for the future if needed.

I think there will be new elections in Maine before a constitutional referendum would pass. You don't like the gov? Vote in a new one!

Quote:
...the assistant Senate Republican leader, Debra Plowman, told Maine Public Radio that Dill’s proposal doesn’t warrant serious consideration.

“This doesn’t rise to the level of what we need to be doing to get Maine on track. There’s a time and a place for this kind of exercise. I don’t see that it’s now; I don’t see that it’s a problem that needs to be solved,” said Plowman, of Hampden.

It doesn't sound like she's got much bi-partisan support in getting it done.

The problem is this governor has the potential to set policies back ten years.

I suppose there is a law that you can't be convicted by a "new" law if the offense occurred before the institution of said law.
