How many times do we have to say no!

I would like to know who the hell is pushing these lowlife casinos in Maine??!!!!

http://www.wcsh6.com/news/article/157107/314/portland.highschoolsports.net

If these casinos come to Maine and draw all these low life gamblers (sick people) to Maine I will be leaving the state. It will no longer be the Maine I love and cherish! We already have the Maine State lottery sucking the poor people dry in this state. Maine to me is all about the beauty of the earth and seacoast, not yanking on a ******* slot machine handle. More hooters on every corner and drunks driving our roads. More trash in the sea and the taxes on the land will eclipse what the locals will be able to afford that they will just become second rate citizens to our beautiful pristine state.

The glam and high life of casinos can never compare to the raw natural beauty that will be marred by these racinos and casinos.
Maybe they are fine in a desert but they contradict Maine's cultural landscape. GOODBYE MAINE FOREVER! DOWN WITH THE CASINOS DOWN WITH THE LOTTERY AND DOWN WITH THE LOW LIFE GAMBLERS. If these casinos come to Maine my love for this state will soured and strangled by such decadence in the face of our natural heritage.

Already you can go to the horse races in Scarborough Maine and all you see in there are scumbag people and wasters of life sitting around all day like addicts on crack dumping their money into these races. Our law makers have no imagination. How about improving the schools and drawing businesses with a genuine purpose here? But no our governor cuts school funding then we get barraged by these casinos over and over again till we say yes or they fake the election AGAIN (like they did on medical marijuana)! No to more strip joints, no to casinos, no to racinos no no no no no!

Take your blood money and get the hell out of Maine you low life gambling scumbags! I know of a woman in Maine who spent years of her life with a restaurant and fed nearly an entire county every night. When she left the restaurant business wealthy for life she went sick in the head and gambled every last cent she had on the "Maine state lottery" now she lives in in rank poverty and squalor. I used to be a store clerk and would watch poor people spend their entire state checks on lottery tickets and NEVER win a ******* thing. Their kids went hungry every month. I also know of moms who gambled every bit of their kids Christmas money on bingo. She wasn't a drunk or a drug addict she was a gambling low life scumbag and her kids came out with learning disabilities and became wards of the state.

These lottery people are vultures who destroy small towns and turn their people into zombies pulling the handle like nothing more than common rats waiting for another pellet to drop down the chute.

Goodbye to Maine I will be moving to the mountains where the natural beauty has not been sold down river and replaced by a roulette and blackjack table. I am a rank liberal but even liberals have their limit. Who's gonna clean up after these pigs and who will be able to afford to live here?

What will be next legalized prostitution?

@RexRed,
Sorry for the bad news Rex. I'm against any casinos being created here in New York state as well. Leave the New England casino action to Foxwoods and bloody Mohegan Sun. Rolling Eyes

How do strip clubs and casinos really affect you? If you don't like them don't go to them, why should you care if others go?

I am a strong believer in allowing people to make their own mistakes. I think gambling is stupid but if people want to do it they should be able to IMO and am against criminalization of vices (if the "perpetrator" and "victim" are the same person, leave them alone).

I am in favor of legalized prostitution. Legalized prostitution allows for regulation which makes it much cleaner and safer. It also makes it easier to stop women and children from being exploited.

I don't know why anyone would be in favor of illegal prostitution.

Of course, I believe gambling should be legal as well.

@maxdancona,
I agree. Where I live prostitution is legal but pimping is not, and I find that better than driving it underground and giving pimps a role to play.

Furthermore if adults want to exchange money for sex I have no problem with that. In America it's stupid that you can pay someone for sex if you are going to make a porn movie out of it but it's illegal without cameras.

Casinos change the mix of people. They draw lowlife corporations into our state with their careless and addictive attitudes and sicko money. And when the trash mounts in the Atlantic ocean (our nations seafood supply) as it has in the pacific then we can just shrug our shoulders, as the army corps of engineers have done with the garbage patch in the pacific.

More commercialism and gambling is that the solution? And you are suggesting we just turn our backs on THE PROBLEM? We can't change anything anyway so why not just let them overrun the state with gambling and prostitution? To hell with our state parks and nature reserves. (cynical)

Latin Americans are becoming shorter in height because of the plastics in the pacific ocean's food supply. What will be next low birth rates?

I happen care about these issues. I do not want corporations ruining the ecology in Maine just to make a lousy buck to add to their billions. That is the reason why we don't have thousands of oil rigs in the gulf of Maine (as they do in the gulf of Mexico) because the current mix of people in Maine care more for the earth than for the oil companies billions in profits. Once they have trashed the rest of the country Maine will become solvent because this will be the last bastion on earth unpolluted by big business corruption and greed.

There is something wrong with turning a lighthouse commissioned by George Washington into a hooters. Or a state park into a marijuana dispensary. Maybe that is how it is done in California but look at the damage Californians have all done to the ocean in the process? AND WHO IS GOING TO CLEAN UP THE MESS?

Yes strip clubs affect me just as the Taliban would affect me if they set up shop in our state. And... we don't have pimps or prostitutes in Maine in general or even gay cursing parks.

It is driven underground because you have casinos and organized crime making policies in your state over the objections of plain simple folk. There is no "underground" in Maine for it to go to, yet... Much of that was cleaned out of our state long ago and now it is creeping back in...

I have no desire to pay for sex for any reason whatsoever. Can you say, herpes? How about venereal warts?

@RexRed,
I'm awestruck by how you meander from casinos to garbage in the sea.

I don't mean for this to be insulting and sincerely hope you don't take it that way but are you on any kind of medication? If that's none of my business feel free to tell me so, I'm just curious about the dramatic vacillations in coherence I've seen from you and wonder what might be behind it.

@RexRed,
Then I don't recommend that you do so, but don't understand why you think it's your business if other consenting adults wish to.

Yes it is insulting (but that was the intention huh?) and no I do not take any medications, drink or smoke, other than vitamin D and an occasional ibuprofen. How about you considering how out of line your question was... You point a finger but forget you have three fingers pointing back at yourself. All so you can promote prostitution for young girls and boys which is usually the rule. (who wants sex with old people anyway?) And you don't think out of state gamblers would flagrantly litter considering they are low life scum to begin with?

It is my business just as you think it is your business to respond otherwise.

This is the reality of what these scumbags casinos attract. No pimps? What planet are you from?

JUDGE SAYS, FAILING TO RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM...

No pimps? Then how does organized crime get paid? I would rather jump all over the issue then put out misinformation. First it is legal pot then underage prostitution.

Maine's governor's new plan to balance the budget is to bring in casinos and pimp out our youth. It will draw in organized crime and we can take away workers rights and at the same time we lower taxes. (cynical or... maybe not)

The real victims are the children of problem gamblers and taxpayers who end up paying the welfare bills to support them.

I have never taken a single dollar out of my own pocket in the 48 years of my life and bought any type of lottery ticket or bet on a horse race or any type of gambling whatsoever. **** the Maine state lottery... I am a VERY proud NON gambler. If I am ever going to make millions I will do it the old fashioned way and... EARN IT! I value wealth and my time more than most people. For this reason though I may have very little money but I own functional things because I have not squandered the very little my life has honestly acquired on useless or pie in the sky fruitless endeavors. I have something to show for my life now. I derive the adrenalin rush from real accomplishments and not meaningless wasted efforts. I know what I want and value function over status.
