But it is instructive that the French at least seem to be raising the possibility of something that appeared unthinkable just a few weeks ago - the prospect of Nato boots on the ground.

Such a decision could be crucial for Libya's future, but it will also be important for that of the Atlantic alliance itself.

@Fido,
You come across as a politician...fine words full of feelings but no substance...HOW do we achieve all these noble aims because they have been expressed since the dawn of time by others better at it than you....we need how, not what .

@Renaldo Dubois,
It is very difficult to change concepts in male dominated societies . They have to have change brutally forced on them.....men understand power .

How can they convince us...

You should stop thinking of violence as action, and begin to consider it as effect... If the effect is harm, the action is violent and we often do people and the environment a lot of slow motion harm that grows out of our hatred, our ideologies, or our general neurosis... Just because some one responds suddenly, or seems to act without reason does not mean they are particularly unreasonable... They may have reached their **** limit, and can't take no more without unloading some...

The US, which is actively using military force to impose our will in three nations, is not in a position to make that argument.

Just how is the US imposing their will in three nations militarily?
Dah... Sombody hand water man a pointy hat... Consider dear friend, that it used to be the mark of a wizard; a wise man.... Now it is like calling some Einstein... No one hears that for being right...

Since they actually believe in God; why not kill them all and let God sort them out??? My bet is that Water man couldn't kill a fly let alone hang fire with a lot of bloody Muslims... He says that nonsense aimed at a billion and a half Muslims expecting some one else to do it for him, and protect him from all the moral qualms associated with killing obviously human beings... Go ahead Water Man... Kill just one of them, and see how that settles in your stomach... Get to know them first... Do business with them... Read their book... Form relationships with them; and then ask for a volunteer for you to practice your murder on...

A great discovery, Hillary!!! The cure to too much war is more war... The cure for economic ruin is more economic ruin... Why didn't I think of that???

We need to take more time to define our moral forms, and give less to enforcing our moral forms... Socrates said Knowledge is Virtue... I think it is easier to be good by thinking about it than by forcing your vision of it up every ass in sight... Just like Socrates, the more you give it your attention the less you will realize what it is... And people do not kill out of uncertainty, but out of certainty... No one should feel certain, and religions and ideologies put certainty before facts...

My winning bet is that our little pup Fido doesn't know the difference between a good Muslim and a radical
Muslim terrorist and that he would wet himself if he ever picked up the scent of a radical Muslim terrorist.

My bet is that the difference has more to do with what we do to them, than with what they would do to us... Normally they are enjoined by their religion to have peace with us... If we show them, as we do, that we are Godless idolators, and the enemies of Islam; then they will give us no peace... You must understand; that if you do not fear God then you must fear death because death is the end of all... But if you fear God you cannot fear death, for death is the end of nothing but human misery... It is because they do not fear death that we must fear the Muslim...Our usual tactics of terror simply do not work on them, and so we must kill them all... And it gets to be hard work since we would rather use them first...

Frustration was growing among residents in Misrata, where Gadhafi’s troops have intensified their long siege of the city in recent days. The doctor sharply criticized NATO for failing to break the assault with its month-old campaign of airstrikes.

“We have not seen any protection of civilians,” the doctor said. “NATO airstrikes are not enough, and the proof is that there are civilians killed every day here,” he said.

The theme was echoed in the rebel stronghold of Benghazi, where spokesman Abdel-Hafidh Ghoga told a news conference: “There’s no more room for hesitation or for not standing with determination against what is happening in Misrata and other Libyan cities, because the destruction that Moammar Gadhafi is causing in Libyan cities is great and extensive.”

The rookie mistake of over promising and under delivering seems to be quite the norm for the professor....and I do blame Obama, because he was the only person on earth who had the sole power to prevent this.

@hawkeye10,
Still, I don't believe anyone promised we would be their army, navy, and airforce.
