Muammar Gaddafi is dead?

Minutes earlier, a brief message was posted in the largest medical forum in China (with 2 millions members):

Breaking News 1 hr ago from Reuters: Muammar Gaddafi has been shot dead by rebels when he's in a citizen's house about two miles away from his residence in Tripoli. (The original message is in Chinese)

But then, when I searched http://www.reuters.co.uk/ with key words "Gaddafi killed," the result offers no such clue. We only have news like "Gaddafi a fugitive as rebels take Tripoli."

Google search has turned to be futitle as well.

Verify this guys.

@oristarA,
It seems to be unconfirmed at this point. Headline on Yahoo News:

Libyan rebels seize most of capital
Clashes continue near Moammar Gadhafi's compound in Tripoli, but the leader's whereabouts remain unknown.

@sozobe,
Quote:
Muammar Gaddafi was a hunted man on Monday as loyal remnants of his forces made a last-ditch stand in the capital and world leaders embraced the fractious Libyan rebels as new masters of the oil-rich North African state.
Nearly 48 hours after a pincer thrust on Tripoli by the irregular rebel armies, launched in tandem with an uprising in the city, Gaddafi's tanks and sharpshooters appeared to hold only small areas, including his Bab al-Aziziya headquarters.
Civilians, who mobbed the streets late on Sunday to cheer the end of dictatorship, stayed indoors as gunfire crackled. Gaddafi's prime minister showed up in Tunisia. State television went off the air and rebels said they had seized its transmitters.

@oristarA,
People...notably world "leaders" want him either to turn himself in or to end up dead. As of now, I'm not getting an confirmation on his demise. I wouldn't completely count him out until he either surrenders or there's a body.

@Sturgis,
The coward left for South Africa weeks ago.

And if he's not there already, he'll be in South America somewhere hiding out with other super-rich wanted pussios.

Interesting. All I'm getting from the usual American electronic news sources is "whereabouts unknown." His eldest son and heir-apparent, however, is said to have been captured and is now a prisoner of the rebels.

@Lustig Andrei,
That's been said before.

The rebels aren't a cohesive resitance movement, they're more of an angry mob. Relying on them for accurate information is silly.

I hope they can, as quickly as possible, locate and apprehend the dictator and his sons, but I've no delusions that doing so will insure a new age of peace and prosperity for Libya.

I'm struck by the comparison of left-wing reactions to the so-called Arab Spring, as opposed to its response to the overthrow of Saddam in Iraq.

Nor do I have any such delusions. We don't even know what (or who) constitutes the leadership of the rebels. That's hardly the point. It's just good to see someone like Ghadaffi get his just desserts.

We 'd say: "(with 2 million members)" not "2 millions".

Well, it will become the point for Libya as soon as Ghadaffi is finally eliminated.

Minor amusing note -- G/Qaddafi apparently carried a torch for Condi Rice.

But also discovered in the compound is a photo album of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. As MSNBC reports, Rice visited Tripoli in 2008. She and Qaddafi ate dinner during a brief time where Qaddafi was being welcomed back into the international community.

And in a 2007 interview with al-Jazeera, according to MSNBC, Qaddafi said of Rice: "I support my darling black African woman. I admire and am very proud of the way she leans back and gives orders to the Arab leaders ... Leezza, Leezza, Leezza. ... I love her very much. I admire her and I'm proud of her because she's a black woman of African origin."
