I would not use the hyphen.
The rest looks good to me if it's a writing exercise. As an actual cover letter, I'm not sure why you say "I could be a valuable and cost effective addition to whomever you hire and an asset to your team." I assume they are filling one position, and this statement sounds like the writer is hoping to become an assistant to the person who fills the advertised position. In other words, the writer should apply for the position, rather than an intern position which hasn't been advertised for. That is my impression, anyway. I am no authority on getting hired.
"Interviewed" is okay as a word choice. They will interview you, but you will also be interviewing them.
It is a well written paragraph.
