How could I know what she was capable of? I'd seen what regular ordinary men could do. I'd seen newsreels of what they found after the war.

Does regualr orfinary men here mean the servicemen who went to fight in the army?

It means people in general, both military and civilians.

Generally: can you use spellcheck? You write very carefully but make typographical errors that may be holding you back.

Nancy, without meaning to be rude, as this is not my intention, I suspect you may need to check whether or not you are dyslexic. When you type your words, you swap the positions of letters, more so than just making a typographical error.

I would consider "regular" men to mean the same as "ordinary" men.
