Brand X, Unfortunately, electing a president today means having to say you're sorry. With Kerry garnering the greatest momentum, most people are just following the crowd - trying to insure that Bush is removed in November - and nothing else. Sad state of affairs, but that's about how politics works today. Get rid of somebody that's doing too much damage to this country and the world, and hope the next president will begin the healing process.

Kerry only had momentum because he was being announced a winner almost every week from the primaries, that's over.

It's a whole new game now and he's got 8 month's of real campaigning, the momentum is over.

"he has united the moderates, centrist and Democrats" Question Rolling Eyes

Polls have repeatedly shown that more of those who call themselves Democrats will vote for Bush than those who call themselves Republicans will vote for Kerry.

Perhaps you meant to write: he has united the leftist centrists, the leftist moderates and the leftist liberals.

It seems to me that contemporary leftists are those folks who act like they think perceived motives are more relevant than actual consequences. While contemporary rightists act like they think actual consequences are more relevant than perceived motives.

According to Kerry himself, his Viet Nam duty was not honorable, he made that abundantly clear.

Try to convince him that it was before you try to convince us.

I can understand where you are coming from Brand X - humility is something totally missing from the Republicans. But, I will give you time, one day you will see the light and you will then be saved.......

More from the Guardian article Steve (as 41oo) cited this morning:

David Kay isn't very happy with George Bush's continuing nonresponse to the news that Iraq never had stockpiles of WMD after all. He says it's time to quit shilly-shallying:

Quote:
Kay, who was formerly a UN weapons inspector, called for the president to go further. "It's about confronting and coming clean with the American people. He should say 'we were mistaken and I am determined to find out why'," he said.

....Kay said that continued evasion would create public cynicism about the administration's motives, which he believes reflected a genuine fear of WMD falling into the hands of terrorists. He also said that if the administration did not confront the Iraq intelligence fiasco head-on it would undermine its credibility with its allies in future crises "for a generation".

Kay seems to be getting more annoyed with each passing week.

Give him another couple of months and he'll be making television commercials for John Kerry. Cool

"Ignorance is preferable to error, and
He is less remote from the truth who believes nothing than
He who believes what is wrong."
-Thomas Jefferson (Notes on Virginia, 1782)

BUT on the otherhand:
"Certainty is impossible and probability suffices to govern belief and action. Get over it!"

Pigeon droppings and henhouses were mistaken for WMDs in Iraq.

Really.

Quote:
UNMOVIC inspectors learned before the invasion that U.S. intelligence tips amounted to a comedy of errors. The tips were almost always flawed or outright wrong. In one case, the review states, U.N. inspectors tried to verify a U.S. tip that a WMD site was disguised as a chicken farm. After UNMOVIC agents descended on the site under cover of darkness, they learned a stinky truth: The site was a chicken farm, complete with the mess and stench of chickens. Again following a U.S. tip, U.N. inspectors raided a farmhouse, believing they would find a cache of WMDs because their detectors signaled traces of banned substances. The weapons they found were conventional munitions allowed by the U.N. As to the traces of banned substances, the inspectors' equipment was reacting to sulfur from pigeons and their droppings.

After pigeon inspections, Bush eats crow
