getting a real job outside the home

When I get angry at my children, I will employ the more standard threats of timeouts and groundings, instead of the more personally satisfying threat of getting a real job outside the home.

What does "getting a real job outside the home" mean here?

@PennyChan,
It refers to the idea that women (or men) who stay home and raise children aren't really working since they aren't being paid for their work.

"To get a real job outside the home" means to get a job that pays.

I'm not sure why the writer thinks this would be a more satisfying threat, as the sentence states. I think she means it would be more personally satisfying to get paid for the work she does.
