Next, I tried gambling. I rigged up a home version of Wheel of Fortune so that now, when it's time to pay bills , I can spin for the lucky winners of this month's payments. I've put the morgage on a few different spaces, but can I help it if their number just doesn't come up?

This paragraph makes me confused. Who can help me to paraphrase it in an easy way?

I can tell you what it means, but not do a paraphrase.

A wheel of fortune is a gambling device - basically a random number generator. The writer is having trouble paying bills, so each bill is selected at random, with the mortgage payment being favored.

Trust me, she is not really using a wheel of fortune.

Oh! If its number doesn't come up, it doesn't get paid. Since the mortgage is assigned several numbers on the wheel of fortune, it is somewhat more likely to be paid than other bills. "Come up" means that that number(s) is randomly selected.
