Did any of y'all read the Donald Driver article on ESPN's website? Hard to read that without becoming a Packer fan next week.

Read the article in the New York Post called, "The Rooney Way." That'll cure that disease that you so innocently call "becoming a Packer fan next week."

STEELERS! STEELERS! STEELERS!

So how do yall who actually follow football come down on the Cutler debate?

He's a tough jackass

I agree, with a strong emphasis on the jackass part.

@kickycan,
Kicky--Also on the ESPN website is an article about skeletons in the Steelers' closet. More things there than I had known before about the old Steel Curtain teams. Interesting indeed, as the "Rooney Way" may have more than one facet.

I haven't finished this article yet, but it's interesting so far -

@ossobuco,
Yeah, that's an interesting one.

One of the non-football points I thought was interesting is how it took someone outside of football "journalism" -- someone who had nothing to lose -- to really make this happen. Everyone else was worried about making enemies and losing access. That's not new information to me per se but still is a pretty scary thing in terms of what journalists in general are willing to pursue.

Not sure what I think of football after reading that and the many NYT articles that it basically is a summary of.

Obviously not everyone is wrecked. But so many are, and I'm just not sure what should be done about it.

Football is, well, obviously, a culture that has taken years of back and forth to develop, and culture is hard to change with new rules, even as specific as from collision oriented defense to tackling oriented.

The wrecked ones might consider taking a leaf out of the wrecked tobacco smoker's book.

I am not going to bother trying to source this for accuracy; not worth the trouble.
Troy Polamalu is a star defensive back for the Steelers. He has 7 interceptions for the year despite opposing QB's largely avoiding tossing to receivers he covers. He was injured for 2 games but is now back.
The NFL merchandise people claim that his jersey is the #1 best-seller amongst female customers while being #10 amongst males.

@CowDoc,
Half of that article is bullshit, and the other half is nothing different from any other team. In my opinion.

Falling Ice Injures 5 At Dallas Stadium
1 of those at the Super Bowl site is in critical condition. 5 inches of snow fell there.

@realjohnboy,
Wow, I hope those folks'll be okay.

Today we are stocking up on more groceries and considering what to order in (we get tomorrow's goodies a day early -- MUCH faster that way). Wings may be a part of that.

@jespah,
I almost bought a big batch of chicken wings and drumsticks yesterday, as I have two new nifty recipes to try, but dammit, they're expensive now.

I note that the ESPN experts whose picks I have included each week during the season break for the Packers 6-2.
