And that's when I saw myself reflected in the window of the No-Longer-Petite Store, over near the mall. Windows don't lie. "No matter what you do, woman," it said,"you'll never look like you did forty years ago. Get real. Check it out. Hair turning gray.Sensible shoes. Square body. Think you're going to look twenty again? It ain't gonna happen."
What does "No-Longer-Petite Store" mean in this sentence?
@PennyChan,
It sounds like the name of the store. The name could be a cheeky reference to its targeted clients, those persons who are now overweight and were once of a small body frame (petite).
@PennyChan,
I think that it is probably a fictitious name. This lady is going to buy her clothes at a store than caters to females who are no longer able to buy at the "normal" women's clothing store.
If I remember correctly, these women are referred to as "full figured" women.
She saw herself in the window of a store that sells clothing to older, fuller figure women.
The store that caters to the young, slim woman would be the Petite Store. She realizes that she is never going to be that anymore. She was looking in the window of another store that caters to her size, and it features clothing that are not going to be petite sizes.
