Errors in sentences

I still remember my first clas sat SMU was IS101 in the morning at 8.30 on a Monday (you don't need to write morning twice). I was two minutes late because I was treading through traffic in the morning, got lost while looking for the classroom and didn't know what the abbreviations GSR, SR and R stood for. After getting to class, I saw the first of many professors that (although there is nothing wrong with using "that," i would probably use whom, because you are referring to a person) I would encounter in my SMU journey, Professor Jason Woodard.

This is how i would write it. No, you would not use quotation marks with the abbreviations.

I think treading should be threading.

I agree, but i thought i'd not mention it, as it was not specifically wrong.
