'sleep/sleeping' and 'play/playing'

He does nothing except
sleep/sleeping
and
play/playing
.
Which words in bold should I use? I think it should use the '-ing' verbs. Am I correct?

Nope. I'd say :"He does nothing but sleep and play."
"Except" would be OK too. ("He does nothing except sleep and play.")
Or,
"He spends all of his time sleeping and playing."

Sleeping or playing, I'd say, in that last sentence.

That would be a bit better, you're right. "And" carries a slight connotation that he's doing both at once.
