Having not read all the earlier posts; my thought are:
Why ban a member, rather than just ban a thread? Or, for that matter, ban postings that do not maintain a certain degree of agreed upon decorum?
There seems to be a current concern about cyberbullying of young people. Is there cyberbullying on this forum? Should that be banned?
In my own opinion, to stay on this forum, one either needs to have a "thick skin," or a personality/identity that meshes with many other posters.
It is just a virtual world, with undocumented intelligence generating threads ("undocumented" in that no one can prove that any specific poster deserves credence in all posts).
The forum functions oftentimes, in my opinion, as a virtual Hyde Park with a soapbox for those that do not tire of reiterating their beliefs.
@ehBeth,

Once again the present tense is operative. He has used Ignore, or has said he has. And boasted of doing on many occasions.
Has he realised how utterly silly it made him look in a scientific debate?
He now claims to "scroll past" as if it makes the slightest difference.
@spendius,
He ignores/scrolls past. No doubt about that.
I use the ignore feature. I usually only 'see' your posts if I've recently looked at the word games - or if the computer is still set to Set's account.

Well you shouldn't Mamie. Think of how many rules and regs you obey. You don't want to be heartily disliking things you are doing all the time. I think of them as being for my benefit in general and thus I look benignly and even with gratitude on them except when being applied by a ******* t**t of a traffic warden.
Beth
A couple of crystalline beauties on the previous page. Very well-thought and worded.

Boy, thats put the pressure on...dont know if I can maintain THAT average....
You only have 4,821 posts as of this writing; those hard-working monkeys pounding away at their typewriters can probably meet your quota. Which reminds me - I've answered your query on that pesky Schroedinger cat on Wandel's evolution thread. No doubt Thomas can improve on my reply - ahem!

Tea is a vile subsstance, almost as vile as cats . . .
@Setanta,
untoward opine noted <spits hairball> steeping meow smooches pooch
@Setanta,
LOL - you both now probably believe you just discovered the etymological origin of the Tea Party?!
@Setanta,
of course it is and that's just one of the reasons I prefer it over coffee.
@dyslexia,
I take my coffee straight . . . i would never pour tea over my coffee.
@Setanta,
well, good taste is timeless. You don't wear a timepiece either I take it.
I used to carry a pocket watch . . . but, no, i don't wear a time piece.
@Setanta,
well, as long as you don't carry a judge, no one really cares.
@Setanta,
Alice's Rabbit.....The Mad Hatter's Tea Party - written by a Brit decades after another Brit published "The Origin of Species" had no problem crossing the Atlantic before the previous magnum opus; this thread is living proof, as is Wandel's long-running struggle for the theory of evolution
@Izzie,
Please don't mind us Izzie - we really don't have anything against cats, as long as they disappear leaving behind them only a grin <G>
