@cicerone imposter,
Actually, I have no idea how far I can see, but I suspect that it is not the curve of the earth that sets the limit for me. That is what I mean about it being my horizon.

@cicerone imposter,
As you left me curious and I am not about to measure the angle against my height to get the numbers its actually indecent you did n´t post the answer... Sad

@Fil Albuquerque,
I googled it, and it turns out it is the curving of the earth that sets the limit. At sea level we can see around 2,9 miles or 4.6 kilometers...

@Cyracuz,
That's the number I heard some years ago; at 3 miles to the horizon when standing at the edge of the water.

@cicerone imposter,
yes...that´s why I also mentioned the height thing...at sea level is one thing and in Everest quite another...but I get the picture anyway we don´t see much indeed !... Wink

...to be, is to be absolute ! (does n´t matter what "to be" stands for)

Being is both absolute and relative: since there being no absolute truth contradicts itself, as also there being an absolute truth contradicts itself, absolute truth must be capable of passing through its own falsity and still be the same, absolute truth -- it must contain its own negation as a necessary part of itself.

@Hermod,
It's been on my mind for a while and I'de like others opinion. Like in my signature, can anything be absolutely true?

yes

Perceivable truth could be due to our naïve sense of perception.

hmm ..perhaps , but as we know science compansates for this by having instruments that detect what we , naturally can't

such as wave lengths of light , microwaves etc

Quote:
But since certain things have variability and could turn out to be completely different than what was originally thought (like Psychology).

hmm.. Psychology is the study of the outside enviroment upon the emotions of the brain

Quote:
Then such things could turn out untrue. Doesn't, or shouldn't this principle go for everything else?

the absolute truth is not based on any of these ideas , concepts and emotions

absolute truth is based on WHAT IS NEEDED TO EVEN THINK UPON THINGS IN THE FIRST PLACE

which is energy and matter

@north,
Are you being intellectually honest with yourself because I do think you know what I am referring to! Are you 100% certain that there is no error in what you wrote?

hmm... lets tackle this from a different point of view , without the Sun's energy would we have life on this Earth ?

of course not , now is this not an absolute truth ?

@north,
Ok I will have to take your word on this one because I can not prove it wrong but I would not doubt that if people read such a claim 10,000 years from now they might think to themselves that it might be comparable to that of Ptolemaic system to Heliocentrism system.

People were not stupid for what they were not able to know, They had good reason for believing in what they did!
