Sentence: "You are making an ass of yourself on television."

Question: Is the above sentence grammatically correct to say? The idiom in it has many meanings, what will it mean in the context of the sentence?

Thanks and regards

Yes, it is grammatically correct. "Making an ass of oneself" does not have many meanings, it has one meaning. That meaning is that the person addessed is playing the fool, is making him- or herself look foolish.
