I read all of your post and instead of using ignore I just do not respond to those that I think may be foolish but I still read what they have to rant about.

Believe it or not I can sometimes find wisdom even in people that I think are being foolish.
When one is studying brains one has to study all brains!

If you like to walk around your neighborhood and talk to your neighbors, but there is one neighbor who calls you over and then spits invective at you and generally abuses you, do you feel you have to go to the fence every time they call? I think that after a while you would decide that there is no loss in just walking on by.

I am kind of surprised that with our knowledge of words that no one has pointed out that the title, "[Is the ignore user choice the most ignorant choice?]" Has two words that seem to go together.

Usually if you can get your message across, the grammar police will stay out of it.

@engineer,
Reality on the internet has no spit only emotional words that you do not have to take as reality if you choose not to.

@reasoning logic,
That cuts both ways. People hurl abuse on the Internet they never would do to your face. So the question still stands: are you obligated to allow someone to abuse you or should you just walk on by?

@engineer,
I try not to allow my emotions to interfere. You will find all kinds of people online with many types of mindsets. I try to understand some of these minds and I try different experiments and see how people respond. If I find a trend I record it.

@Setanta,

Not to change the subject but to ask an off topic question: What sort of dog is your icon?

Dunno . . . she's a rescue, so we don't know her antecedents.

Now, you tell me why you put a delta before your post.

You never know what someone will say, so I read. No, I've never put anyone on Ignore.

@reasoning logic,
Without any filter, you subject yourself to data overload. Every moment you spend reading vicious, off topic rants is a moment you are not spending reading comments from someone trying to change your mind with logic or at least courtesy. Once it is pretty clear that the probability of getting any meaningful contribution is small, I choose to spend my time elsewhere.
