I was just coming to A2K to update everyone and answered ehBeth and Butrflynet first.
Joy was able to eat some breakfast this morning and so far, she has kept it down. She is having some doppler (whatever that is) test right now on her leg. I'm not real sure what that was about. They are trying to pin down where the infection is so they can treat it. Her hemoglobin is up to 9.7 from 8. The kidney specialist is coming today to talk to her about that. They will be doing the camera in the pill thing also. I told Bobby to tell Joy to turn out the lights and watch her stomach and see if she could see flashes when the camera is taking pictures. LOL. I know she'd laugh at that. She always laughs at my stupid remarks.
She's not totally out of the woods yet but at least she is feeling better. I will keep you all updated.
Your kind words and thoughts mean so much to me. It's so nice to know there is still compassion in this world of ours.
@Arella Mae,
She is having some doppler (whatever that is) test right now on her leg. I'm not real sure what that was about.
A doppler test is what I had when the doctor was looking for any blood clots in my body. In my case, it was in my legs and lungs.

Today is a good day! I just got off the phone with Joy. Her infection is under control. They are taking her off of four of her medicines, which thrills her to no end. She will be doing the camera in the pill thing tomorrow.
She said, "Rusty, for the first time in two years I feel like I'm going to get better." Oh that made me so happy but it made me cry. I told her I've known for a couple of months she wasn't okay and that I thought she was giving up. She said that she had basically given up. But this hospital stay has a good outcome. She has had top to toe tests. She said she had a doppler everywhere, every toe, everything. Now, if they can just pinpoint where she is losing the blood that will be the big thing.
I told her I know she doesn't want me to come see her while she is sick but it's so hard for me to not do it. She said, "I'm coming to see you! Bobby can't wait to meet JJ!" LOL, now, that's my friend Joy!
I am so happy. She may get to go home today. Three doctors signed off saying she could and she only has two others that have to okay it. She said, "I can take pills at home!" So, I know she's feeling better.
I'm so glad she did admit to me she was giving up. Now, we can talk about it instead of letting it be that pink elephant in the room.
Thank all of you so much for your prayers and well-wishes for Joy. It means so much to me. People I've never met being kind and compassionate-see? There's still hope for this world!
@Arella Mae,
Arella
so pleased that they have got her infection under control and she get's to go home - I hope the pill camera will find where things are going wrong and they can do something to sort it out.
Keep the HOPE - she'll have stronger days and some weaker moments - but with the love and friendship surrounding her, life will be made much easier for her, despite the illness.
Have lotsa fun when she comes to visit - laugh a lot and hug a lot and talk when you both need to.
You take good care too.
@Arella Mae,
That is such encouraging news.
I'm glad the two of you have been able to start the conversation about your feeling that she was giving up. Having a friend she can be that open with can really really hell with coping.
@Arella Mae,
Aside from hoping along with you, Arella, that Joy turns a corner back to better health, I'm intrigued by the search to find the cause of the blood loss, and wonder if it's some kind of anemia (not really bleeding but red cell breakdown) - but they undoubtedly have looked for that, or a bleeding fibroid (I had one of those, but then she'd be aware of that, I would think) or what? Poor nutrition because of the health problems. Obviously, I'm shooting in the dark, am curious.
You ladies are so wonderful. Your words of encouragement and support really touch me and I know they would touch Joy too. I cannot thank you enough.
Osso, Johnny's dad had prostate cancer and he was losing blood too and they never found out where. Thankfully, there is this camera in the pill so they may be able to find it in Joy. She has gone through iron infusion treatments because of this and they are doing all they can to find out exactly what is going on. I will keep all of you updated.
When she comes to see me I am going to be the happiest person alive that day!
@Arella Mae,
Thanks, I momentarily forgot about the camera in pill business..
Hi Arella, my what encouaging news. She is going to be so crazy-mad happy when she gets to go home, seeing the world with new eyes.
Joy is out of the hospital!!!! She is very weak and very tired but so happy to be home. She said thank all of you for your prayers and good wishes.
@Arella Mae,
Oh Yay! Sorry I hadn't kept up -- so glad to be peeking in and seeing good news.
@Arella Mae,
Oh, I'm so glad to hear that!
