Or:
G.O.P. Insurgents = GOP members who are against Democrats?
Can you tell with your intuition at the first sight upon the headline below?
Context:
G.O.P. Insurgents Win in Del. and N.Y.
O’Donnell, Tea Party Favorite, Takes Senate Primary
By JEFF ZELENY
The Tea Party movement scored another victory, helping Christine O’Donnell, a dissident Republican, to a win over Representative Michael N. Castle in Delaware.
@oristarA,
People inside the GOP who are against the official leadership of the GOP.
@engineer,
Wow?
Thanks.

@oristarA,
Were you looking for more political discussion? Since there are only two effective political parties in the US, they have a wide range of opinion inside each party. This year, there is a faction of the Republican Party (nicknamed the Grand Ole Party or GOP) that is advocating positions that are more conservative than the party as a whole. This faction is waging an
insurgency against their own party to force the entire party to be more conservative. Recently that means that they are putting up candidates for party election that are not supported by the official leadership of the party and in some cases those candidates are winning the party nomination even though they are considered party extremists or do not have experience in government.
@engineer,
Nicely explained.
Oristar, I checked in and didn't comment because engineer had it covered.
